Why are they claiming that the tsunami on the east coast of North America will be 100+ feet high, while at the UK, which is nearer, it will be only a tenth that?

Relieve pressure by blowing holes in the volcano to allow it to drain?

Even at 12 miles inland, it’ll still be too far for me to drive to the beach.

I am going to miss Charleston, Beaufort, Savannah, St. Augustine.
NYC, and DC, not so much.

The direction of the initial cause.
The landslide that will supposedly cause this tsunami will fall down the west side of the island. Britain is NE of the island. The wave would be traveling mostly west.
What confuses *me* is that Africa is supposed to get 300ft waves, despite being *behind* the event.

D.C. is more than 12 miles from the western shore of the Chesapeake Bay, which itself is sheltered by Maryland’s Eastern Shore. Unfortunately, NYC is not so well protected.

"Why are they claiming that the tsunami on the east coast of North America will be 100+ feet high, while at the UK, which is nearer, it will be only a tenth that?" I am not certain myself but it may have to do with the topography of the ocean floor. in between La Palma and England, just off the west coast of Spain are a lot of seamounts that are nearly islands that could dissipate the wave energy.

TV evangelist Perry Stone was predicting something like this - a massive tidal wave along the East Coast.

Mostly the East Coast of Florida will feel it, where the New Yorkers live. The West Coast is people from the Midwest, and the panhandle is typical Southern Conservatives.
