Former President Donald Trump visited with police officers and firefighters in New York City on Saturday and questioned why President Joe Biden decided not to deliver a speech to recognize the 20th anniversary of 9/11.
“Biden didn’t even speak today! He went to all three places and he didn’t speak,” Trump said. “I wonder why he didn’t speak”:
The former president visited the precinct to thank officers for their service, spending much time criticizing Biden’s disastrous exit from Afghanistan.
“He turned victory into a total embarrassment; I say the most embarrassing moment in the history of our country,” Trump said.
The former president said he watched some of the other speeches from 9/11 but noted that no one was talking about Biden’s failure.
“They’re trying to do speeches without mentioning what happened over the last two weeks, and that’s a very hard thing to do,” Trump said.
He accused Biden of surrendering to the Taliban in the war for political reasons.
“I think he wanted to run because he wanted to look good today,” he said, pointing to the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.

I think they know they messed up with the divisive angry Covid speech he gave on Thursday and his incident where he just wandered off from the podium on Friday at some school while his wife was speaking. He is an idiot, but his handlers or at least intelligent and can see what is happening.

I agree. It's red meat for the base and people would eat it up at a rally. But talking to fireman at a memorial for their fallen comrades ... he should have kept comtemporary politics out of it.
Then again, Bush equated 'right wing extremists' (uniparty code for "Trump Supporters") with Al Queda and ISIS today. So I guess there is no place that can avoid this stuff these days.
Given what this anniversary is about I think Trump should have been silent. He can go back to criticizing biden on 9/12.

He was just interviewed by Gutfeld on Fox and said that there should be NO Mandate.
Had he spoke, I don't think he would have been heckled - not out of respect for Biden, but out of respect for the solemn occasion that was being observed. His handlers, however, did not want to take a chance on him going off script and saying God knows what if anyone did say anything while he was speaking.
Was Trump not invited to these other ceremonies?

Bush, what you should have condemned today was Biden’s disastrous Afghanistan surrender where Americans and allies remain hostages, and the grave national security situation in which he left our country; or condemned Obama, for his release of 5 of the worst Taliban terrorists on the planet, 4 of whom are now running the Taliban regime in Afghanistan. But he didn’t have the guts to do either. And too bad he didn’t condemn the violent extremism our nation experienced all last summer.
