I have to wonder what the Northeast will do for fuel and food. Will they approve a oil pipe line and coal plants.

New York's Southern tier is a shale oil goldmine, Cuomo wouldn't allow it to be tapped. As for food, canning and freezers will work. New England is also blessed with abundant fresh water, unlike the West.

I’m in the Northeast, and we are mostly stupid up here. In my opinion, we deserve to starve and freeze.

But one difference I see this time around is that in 1861, to a certain extent, the cotton states had an economic interest in maintaining the status quo. Yes, in other states there were people who cared about States Rights and supported southern states in self-determination. The ACW was not only about slavery. But, clearly, the issue of slavery and the economic importance of cotton were significant factors.

Our current situation is not regionalized in any way. Anyone, in any location, who opposes authoritarian government, should be willing to stand up and say, “No”.

If this thing goes kinetic, it will not be like 1861.
