If the Red Counties in those states were able to leave, those Blue states would become very small, very quick. Even NY and Illinois. Folks would realize things are much different outside the big cities.
I think it would be awesome for some research to be done on what some of those states would be like if they applied some type Electoral College system. The very system set up to prevent the dense urban areas running over the rest.
Pennsylvania would be red without Philly and five adjacent counties and Pittsburgh.
