In the video with Ronny Jackson (link in post below) he says that his staff spoke to the state dept and the state dept said that the Taliban told them they are not going to release the planes until the new Taliban gov’t is set up and Jackson implies that the Taliban are seeking for the US to recognize the Taliban as the official gov’t.

Americans who wish to leave Afghanistan are much more important to us than Afghans.
It honestly seems like we need an actual leader in this country. We are choosing our Presidents wrongly. We should go back to how the founding times chose a President: his PROVEN METTLE IN CONFRONTING AND NEGOTIATING WITH OPPONENTS, HIS EXCELLENCE AND BRAVERY IN ACTUAL BATTLE, and his character and personal strength and intelligence evident.
No matter which side of the aisle, we now choose people who are well connected, appear good in photos, and will do the bidding of one or more powerful entities.
We need actual leadership, not a great junior executive.
