Analysis: US-China friction complicates progress on climate

BEIJING — U.S. climate envoy John Kerry came to China this week seeking to press the world’s largest emitter of greenhouse gases to do more in the global effort to hold down the rise in temperature.

What he got was renewed demands for Washington to change its stance toward China on a host of other issues from human rights to Taiwan, the self-governing island that China claims.

Both sides agree that climate is an area of joint interest, but while the U.S. says they should cooperate despite their differences, China says the U.S. cannot expect cooperation while also attacking it on other issues.

“The U.S. side wants the climate change cooperation to be an ‘oasis’ of China-U.S. relations,” Foreign Minister Wang Yi told Kerry. “However, if the oasis is all surrounded by deserts, then sooner or later, the oasis will be desertified.”

Chinese officials intended to make clear to the Biden administration that “it is impossible to gain China’s cooperation on climate change while maintaining anti-China stances on major issues,” said Shi Yinhong, professor of international relations at Beijing’s Renmin University.

The sides have identified the climate crisis as an area for possible cooperation, but this week’s meetings offered little indication of progress.

Ah, the first daily dose of “climate change” written by folks who are in the media precisely because fifth grade science class proved to be too much for them.

China will be nuked. The weakness of the US because of commies like the kerry clown has assured that.

India, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Vietnam aren’t gonna sit around and wait for a bunch of fags and dykes to save their asses.

They’re just gonna nuke China because they hate them and they can.

“Progress” in talks on climate change is probably a good thing to discourage, because the wrong issues are continually being presented. The RIGHT course of the discussion should include ways in which humanity may adapt to the changing conditions, and work to make that possible, not try to tax it out of existence or legislate it away by numerous and totally ineffectual “rules” that do not address the core causes of climate change.

Carbon dioxide is not a pollutant. It is plant food.

Grow more plants and use up the “excess” carbon dioxide.

So China will not talk about climate change because the United States is standing up to it (sort of)????? Bovine excrement. China’s principal goals are to build a dominant economy and military and to supplant the United States as the dominant world power. Switching to comparatively inefficient and unreliable “clean” power, or in fact devoting any resources to the climate change agenda, will not further the achievement of those goals.

An India-China-Pakistan nuclear war would be “good for climate change”.
3 Billion less people, and the ash cloud would dampen the Sun’s rays...
