He and Jill Biden will shortly arrive at the Dover Air Force Base in Delaware to attend the "dignified transfer" of 13 military personnel killed in a terror attack at Kabul airport.
This is a military ritual of receiving the remains of fallen troops killed in foreign combat.
The dead ranged in age from 20 to 31.
"The 13 service members that we lost were heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice in service of our highest American ideals and while saving the lives of others," President Biden said in a statement Saturday.
"Their bravery and selflessness has enabled more than 117,000 people at risk to reach safety thus far."
Eleven of the 13 Americans killed were Marines. One was a Navy sailor and one an Army soldier.

And I heard that only 5k are AMERICANS.
A walking zombie pResident to receive our honored slain?
Blasphemous.
Exactly. So tired of him pulling the Beau card. Totally different losing a loved one in explosion, in battle then serving, coming home seeing his family, enjoying his life and then getting cancer and dying.
One of the Marine moms said she didn’t blame the President in an interview.
Disgusting and disgraceful that he would go there.
But of course, the rehabilitation of Joe Biden and his administration cannot proceed apace without the appearance that he had nothing to do with the fates of those in uniform killed by the enemy.
When I was a child, I stole money from my mother’s purse and purchased a slot car. My mother lined our large family of kids to question us, and there I was at the end of the line, racing my ill-gotten slot car around an imaginary track that existed in my mind within an arms length of my torso.
Point is, I HAD to show up and stand in the “police lineup”, because if I had been absent, then I would have been easily seen as the guilty one. (It probably might have worked better if I had just left that newly purchased toy car between the mattress of my bed before I took my place in the lineup.)
However, I didn’t have a large body of people in media and politics who would unequivocally and convincingly tell my mother that I had nothing to do with that missing money from her purse (as I zoomed that little race car in front of my eyes down an imaginary straightaway) and that I had been the only one guarding the purse to make sure nothing was taken from it.
My mother wouldn’t have fallen for it, but I think there are a lot of Americans who will.
Incredible movie and so hard to watch. Son is a Marine who served in Iraqi Freedom. Daughter National Guard at same time. Both my kids serving at the same time.
But so glad I did. The respect shown to our military in preparation to be shown for their funerals is incredible.
I understand what you are saying, but I think Biden can’t escape this.
Also, this is far from over. Another bombing in Kabul in the last hour.
Details are scant at this time.
But we won’t know as they are banning the Press. Of course.
’m assuming that the handlers are sending her with the idea that her presence will help deter the families going off on Biden.
Bingo. The senile fool needs her as a shield and to remind him of the words he will forget to use
I hope you are right, but I admit to losing some faith in the American electorate.
“Their bravery and selflessness has enabled more than 117,000 people at risk to reach safety thus far.”
How many Americans Joey, and why haven’t we seen news coverage of their planes arriving and interviews with them citing how you took care to get them out.
The silence and non coverage says it all
I’ve been waiting for Beau’s bloody shirt to appear

Heard from a reliable source some of the families of the service members who were killed in Kabul do not want Biden to be at Dover AFB for the dignified transfers.

No we won't. But I don't think Trump brought the press along very often when he went to Dover either out of respect for the families.
