His son, Thor, took a commission in the army in 1990. I lost track of him about 10 years ago but last I heard he was a Lite Colonel and serving in MI. AFAIK he never went the SFQC route but he did earn his “silver” airborne wings.

I remember watching Sgt. Sadler perform the "Ballad of the Green Beret" on the Ed Sullivan show.
Also, loved the John Wayne movie from 1968 called "The Green Berets". The critics hated that movie, because it told a side of the Vietnam War they did not want told.

ty. I served with men who above the rest. I had SF NCO’s with 4 years in combat in late 68. Those men were my real friends.

The Decades channel airs old episodes of “The Ed Sullivan Show” every weekday, two at 7:00 AM and then the same two at 7:00 PM.
Recently, I saw the show with Sgt. Sadler singing his famous ballad.

Thanks for the tip! The Ed Sullivan show was a piece of Americana gone forever.
Youtube has Sgt. Sadler's appearance on the Ed Sullivan show if you ever want to see it again.
The type of song that will NEVER have the Freedom of Speech, to be allowed to made today, or , if made, would get NO airplay, slandered by the media and leftists, as “White Supremacist”, and “Fascist”, et al.
