John McCain has been a friend of freedom in Afghanistan and throughout the world - an ally of all those struggling for democracy, human rights and women’s rights against even the toughest odds. Just as he has stood steadfastly with us in our battles, we now stand proudly with him in his last battle - forever grateful for all that he has done.

Shades of Vietnam, Pol Pot.
“They are keeping the streets of Kabul very safe and indeed very calm.”
So, these primitive cave-dwellers do a better job on law and order than Lori Lightfoot? Probably. It looks like there are gun all over the place. Shouldn’t there be “gun violence” breaking out all over? The Taliban is showing that they learned at least something about the PR game over the last 20 years. They aren’t tightening their grip until the world has moved on to the next thing.
Why would anyone shoot a dead child?
It’s against their nature but in their interests to do so.
They are seeking international recognition of their governance.
Showing some magnanimous behavior advances that cause.
Once they establish the desired international recognition and trade agreements, then it can be back to business as usual.
That guy would be a perfect fit in our next presidential election - he can run as VP to Kamala...he doesn’t even have to be a citizen of the US.
To terrorize adults.
This generation may get to know an old term that has become rare these days.
POW- PRISONERS OF WAR
I suspect they are wanting to get rid of their troublemakers, and are letting them leave if they will. As you say, I doubt it will last, and a switch will flip.
I suspect most of these “refugees” support the Taliban and are going to create mayhem in their host countries.
Otherwise, the Taliban would have killed them.
I was referring to Americans needing to leave. Don’t dither...run.
