Afghanistan: Taliban 'cooperating' with UK forces and not behaving in 'medieval way', says chief of defence staff
SKY News ^ | August 18, 2021 | by Samuel Osborne

The Taliban is "cooperating" with British forces as they work to evacuate people from Afghanistan and is not behaving in a "medieval way", the chief of the UK defence staff has said.

General Sir Nick Carter told Sky News: "We are cooperating with the Taliban on the ground and that seems to be a very straightforward relationship.

"They are keeping the streets of Kabul very safe and indeed very calm. They are helping us at the airport."

He said the militants are "keeping the streets calm, they are avoiding public disorder" - and added: "What we're not getting are reports of them behaving in a medieval way like you might have seen in the past."

Sir Nick suggested the Islamist movement, which has taken power in Afghanistan, could be more moderate than when it was last in control in the 1990s.

He said he does not think the Taliban "want to become international pariahs again", adding: "I do think that they have changed."

However, the shadow foreign secretary Lisa Nandy disagreed with Sir Nick's comments, saying the UK is "dealing with a very oppressive regime".

"I think that's a very difficult and unpalatable message to the very many Afghans, including women and girls, who are not just suffering at the moment but are also very, very fearful about the future," she told Sky News.

She added: "I think it's very difficult to judge people by their words when their actions are so at odds with the reality. I think we're dealing with a very oppressive regime and I think we need to be clear-eyed about that."

That won’t last...get to the border or airport anyway you can and get out.
Take advantage of their forebearance...it won’t last long, I fear.

The Taliban needs to get the U.S. and UK forces and civilians out of A-stan before they begin their head-chopping spree.

(They have the complete A-stan govt [U.S. created] biometric data base of everyone who ever worked for or with the Americans. Photos, fingerprints, job description, address, etc.)

The Taliban have total control over the evacuation. Because the Fool of Kabul abandoned Bagram, we are at the complete Taliban mercy. They drop one mortar on the runway, and the evac stops, and the approx. 10,000 U.S. personnel still in A-stan will become hostages with rescue impossible.

So the Taliban is outwardly acting reasonable during this interim period, but once we're gone, they will exterminate all the Afghanis who worked for or with us.

That's why they put a cordon around Kabul airport, and are not letting any Afghanis inside it. Our Afghan allies are marked for death.

The Taliban exist like Tony Soprano runs their organization. They don't actually do anything but skim, demand bribes, protect opium fields, run protection rackets, sell women and little girls as sex slaves, act as provincial tax collectors and toll takers, and force their will onto anyone they target.

The Taliban do absolutely nothing to advance a country or it's prosperity thru a growing GDP.

As long as the UK has citizens in Afghanistan, they need to keep repeating the above...

This UK general probably thinks the best way to get folks out of the country is by kissing Taliban ass. And I suppose he’s right. Thanks to Biden, there really is no other option.

Something this “general” has had plenty of practice at, in order to get where he is.

Aljazeera hack:

18 Aug: news.com.au: Al Jazeera journalist only woman approved for Taliban conference
This young, blonde woman has grabbed the world’s attention — she was the only female reporter approved by the notorious group.
by Shireen Khalil
Her name is Charlotte Bellis, a New Zealand-born journalist who has been reporting on the ground from Kabul for Al Jazeera.

Despite dozens of fellow female journalists from the world’s media also stationed in the country’s capital, Bellis was the only female reporter granted permission to attend the Taliban’s press conference...

It is unclear why Bellis was the only female reporter specifically chosen to address the conference, however there’s suggestions it’s because her employer, Al Jazeera, might be expected to show more sympathy to the Taliban than western media outlets, according to The Australian...

Taliban spokesman Shail Shaheen, randomly called female Afghan-born Australian BBC reporter, Yalda Hakim, live on-air on Monday...
Hakim’s colleagues praised her for maintaining her composure when she got the surprise call — and also for her probing interview...

There’s also reports Taliban gangs are targeting children as young as 12, “going door-to-door” as they hunt for sex slaves after conquering Afghanistan.

No reports of Taliban behaving medieval? I’ve seen a lot of reports of them doing just that. I hope at least some good comes out of this disaster... like Biden’s impeachment and Harris’s too. What a way to distract from all the election fraud audits.

Sounds like at least one of the major political parties here.

They are. They don’t want to harm westerners. They only want them all gone.

Then the nice-nice goes away.

Any and all who collaborated with the West will die. Or worse.

Then they will begin planning/facilitating the harm of the West.

An eight year old would know this.

Too bad we don’t have eight year olds in positions of authority.
