I call BS on this story, there is no way she could not get Meds or Doctors visits with Medicaid and sometimes people in Medicaid also are on Medicare.

This sounds like a pure propaganda piece.

The major cost for insulin is the fact that current product requires refrigeration and the product can not be made at home. Two technologies / efforts will significantly change that model.

1) there is an opensource effort to enable people to manufacture insulin on their own. It appears that the cost of self manufacture will be less than $30 per month.

2) Oramed is in the clinical trial phase of a oral form / pill for insulin.

I also want to know her weight and other conditions. Did she even try to help herself or depend on Pharma alone.

Still no details about ACE1 down-regulating and the related increase in ACE2 expression.

Cut the processed carbs and walk a half-hour every day. Using the legs is the best way to use up blood sugar.

You’re welcome

The higher carb, low fat diet the FDA has recommended is a large part of the problem.

The diabetes epidemic is a direct result of the “Food Pyramid” forced on us by the government. That, and the general destruction of the family. When I was a kid, my mother was working, and I had free access to the kitchen. Just a decade before, she was not working, and my older siblings had zero access to the kitchen. You simply did not eat between meals. You were hungry at mealtime.

If you want to do things right, ask the government what to do, and do the exact opposite.

Liquid Seed Oils, like canola and soybean oil, cause obesity. Add in sugar and refined carbs. The Doughnut is the killer food 🍩

Perhaps if we stop lying to fat and obese people that they are beautiful, and awesome, and don’t need to change...

As long as we can afford to not treat diabetes properly, then it is NOT a national health problem.
...and it does seem like the supply of money to treat it improperly is ENDLESS.

” In part, that’s because, since the 1970s, more and more Americans are growing up and living in “obesogenic” environments where they get less exercise, eat more processed foods high in carbohydrates and fat, and gain excessive weight at an earlier age.”

YEA!! Kind of. They got the “C”-word in finally - Carbohydrates (the cause of high blood sugar), but had to add in fat, of which there is ZERO EVIDENCE that it’s a problem with blood sugar (hint, it does affect blood sugar).

“Now, Adebayo said, he tries to wake up earlier and eat a better diet. He counts the carbohydrates in his food so he can correctly dose his meal-time insulin injections. “

Counting is a start, but if he gets much over 20 grams, he’s not doing his body any favors. You can ‘think’ you’re offsetting those carbs with insulin, but you’re actually destroying your body at the same as if you didn’t even take insulin.

“I have called endocrinologists in the Metroplex and beyond,” she wrote in 2017, referring to the Dallas-Fort Worth area. “None take Medicaid.”...Low reimbursements are a big reason only 68% of family doctors, who treat most type 2 patients, are willing to accept new Medicaid patients, according to a 2019 federal report.”

Well, if 68% of family doctors, who treat diabetes, take Medicaid, perhaps she should have considered calling one of them. But I do agree with the premise - Medicaid does suck.

If you want to write a doom and gloom piece why dont you research China. 330 million of its citizens are diabetics. Now there is a real horror story. We taught them to eat that way. Add to this that 9 out 10 of their public water systems are contaminated with industrial waste and we we will soon see a massive wave of deformed infants that the Chinese will find a use for.

Why do you think that they just increased the family size there.

Go watch the 1970’s movie called Soylent Green to learn more.
