“Socialism has been tried 41 times in the last 100 years … and there are exactly 41 failures,” says Whole Foods CEO John Mackey, author of “Conscious Capitalism.”
In this interview, filmed at the FreedomFest in South Dakota, I sat down with Whole Foods CEO John Mackey to discuss the deceiving allure of socialism, his philosophy of “conscious capitalism,” and why Nordic countries are actually not socialist, contrary to what many may claim.

Uh oh. Do the Amazon betters know that they have a rogue truth speaker among them?
I'm wondering if all the libs who shop Whole Foods know???
Oh, but John...You forgot. Those people who are living in their parent’s basement, which is filled with Participation Trophies, are infinitely smarter than those who lead the previous 41 attempts.
Don’t believe it? Just ask them.
A lot of conservatives shop at Whole Foods.
Anyone who can afford it and lives within range.
Most libs cannot afford to shop there.
tagable...
Massachusetts has had socialist grade school education for about 350 years.
The US Army has been socialist since the day it was created.
A child in the USA can be born in a public tax-funded hospital, go home with mommy to a public housing project, go to a public K-12 school, borrow money from the federal department of education and spend four years at a state-run university....
I’ll have to disagree. When Whole Foods opened up here in a downtown location, i checked it out and it was a liberal utopia of sorts. I had never seen this many liberals all in one place before this Whole Foods was built. Never returned after that experience. Fast forward a few years to about a year or 2 ago and they build a second one close to where i work. I only went in there as they had the Amazon locker i could pick up my packages from. I saw very similar things, liberal lesbians, birkinstink wearing hippies, younger more affluent liberals, and the biggest thing i noticed it’s they are not courteous as drivers or if they are walking in the parking lot. They will pull out in front of you even if you have the right of way, and if they are walking they just putt along with no care in the world, where if I’m walking i try to hurry to get out of the way of the car and will actually wave to the driver. None of these liberals ever have this same type of courtesy.
Thank this guy for speaking up. He will soon get the Jack Ma treatment.
“Most libs cannot afford to shop there.”
The government butters many slices very generously.
My Democratic neighbors get over $100,000/year in federal retirement benefits. We never discuss “equity” or “income inequality”.
My brother was posting Republican signs in his upstate NY area decades ago. The most affluent neighborhood had the most Democratic signs.
Pretty soon, ‘diversity hiring will mean trying to find straight heterosexual white people to hire
Must vary by location, then. I know where the Whole Foods in Nashville is located and it’s in the middle of lib country!
Also in the wealthy area of town as well.
Wait. What? This from Whole Foods?!?
This from a bunch that offers up “eco kid” or “enviro kid” breakfast cereals? Pushing climageddon? Sounds like virtue signaling. 🐴💩
I think I prefer old school socialism. They merely wanted your money. They didn't police your thoughts.
And yes, Whole Foods is extremely woke.
Most libs cannot afford to shop there.
*************
That may be true but I believe that a number of middle/upper
income libs do. IMO WF isn’t for the low income shopper no
matter which political spectrum they belong to.
I sure do, its the only place I can obtain certain products I enjoy. Of course I always CCW when I go in, my way of thumbing my nose at them and their no guns policy.
Although this guy was a Democratic Socialist in college, he has been a Green-Vegan Libertarian most of his life since founding Whole Foods. He cut his salary to zero and walks-the-walk as far as his principles are known. Interesting guy but not my political comrade.
Most libs can’t cook.
