"Stage 1, she has a real good shot at a full recovery."

It depends on what type of cancer it is. My sister wasn't even in Stage 1, but she had small squamous cell cancer, and it is the most aggressive. It responds well to treatment (radiation and chemo), but it always comes back. She was dead in 18 months.

"I wish her good health, and perhaps a dose of humility."

I'm sure she was happier than a pig in shit when Rush Limbaugh reported his diagnosis.

She’s an admitted drug addict. Pain pills. Instead of taking them herself, she should have handed them out to all of her audiences.

Yep, we have a family member being treated for cancer of the uterus.....she’s now going through another round of chemo only a few months after her last round... .....some cancers are real difficult to contain and or treat regardless of what stage they’re in.

Who cares? To call her a third rate celebrity is to give her far too much credit.

Actually, the whole radon thing is overblown. It was another scare like Alar, nitrates in bologna, etc., etc.

Was she one of the leftists who said hateful things about Rush when he had lung cancer?

"Eventually in life, EVERYBODY is brought to their knees to ponder their eternity. Maybe she will see the light and change her ways."

I worked with a lot of people who ended up with various types of cancer, some terminal, some not. Also had three family members who died of lung cancer. My observation has been that when someone faces their own mortality, there are two ways they can go once they are healed. One way is to take your new lease on life for granted, act out, push the envelope, either continue with the bad behavior that helped create their illness, or to take up another bad habit that could adversely affect their health, and the second way, is to be very grateful for the new lease on life, and take it as a second chance to better your life, and change your bad habits.

I’ve lived a full life and been exposed to plenty of stuff including second hand smoke powerful chemicals from time to time.

N95 masks would have been a good thing in a number of those situations IMHO.

I used N95 masks in some cases at least.

And when it comes to marijuana heck I’m the opposite of Bill Clinton,

“I inhaled but I didn’t smoke”.

Interesting how most people on the Right don't wish ill on their opponents while people on the Left almost always do.

Really? You wouldn’t know it from this thread, or from FR (by and large).

Me, I think she is a sick, pathetic fool, but I wish her well and will pray for her.

43 "You have heard that it was said, 'You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' 44But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. 46For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? 47And if you salute only your brethren, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same? 48You, therefore, must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.“ (Matthew 5:43-48)

A doctor might say something like being stressed out all the time didn’t help.
Smoking and heavy drinking probably doesn’t help.
Although, genetics is probably 80-90% of it.

Plus, one never knows how much better the quaaity of your life would have been if a person didn’t partake in any number of less than healthy activities..?

“Actually, the whole radon thing is overblown. It was another scare like Alar, nitrates in bologna, etc., etc.”

Depends on what a given person considers “overblown”. The Alar hysteria was unfounded, and ended in an unnecessary ban of a useful product. I personally have never been concerned about nitrates in processed meats, but if some want to avoid that stuff, that’s their business. I don’t lose any sleep over radon, but I do recognize everyone’s exposed to it, and just like some people die on the highway through no fault of their own, some people will get lung cancer from radon through no fault of their own.

Now if I lived in Stanley Watras’s house (look it up) I’d feel a bit differently.

Unfortunately, but not unusual.

The Lt. gov of VA, Richards died of lung cancer and he never smoked anything.

Not to mention that she grew up in the last days of atmospheric nuke testing, and inefficient automobiles that spewed all kinds of half-combusted garbage.

Had that last epiphany a few years ago when I found myself behind a cherry 1965 Mercury Monterey station wagon - the foul exhaust gave me a pleasant flashback to childhood for a second. We were swimming in atmospheric filth.

I am sorry to hear about your sister. My own sister had stage 2 cancer. She is a survivor for 3 years now.
