Some of this may also be due to the time differential between Japan and the US.

There is time difference between the UK and the US too, yet ratings did not collapse in 2012 when the Olympics were held in London did they?

It's one thing to stage events 5+ hours ahead of our time when people might be watching a night event in London during the late afternoon hours in North America.

When you're 10+ hours off, you have millions of people in North America who are SLEEPING while those events are held.

Agreed, but it’s 13 hours for US ET, 10 hours for US PT.
