I’m not watching the Olympics, but if she’s not up to competing for personal reasons, I think she is being reasonable. It’s not often that somebody is willing to give up a possible gold medal to stay mentally healthy. It’s commendable, imo.
So she quits on her team but she can compete for her own glory? Absolutely selfish.
She was the most experienced gymnast on her team. As I understand it - for the others it was their first Olympics.
Her actions gave up a Gold medal for the other three - as well as her own.
She is a No Go at leadership and mentoring.
Maybe she shouldn’t have attended. Did this sudden need for self wellness just happen? I heard the audio and quite frankly, she sounded normal-no strain in her voice, well spoken. I call BS. Something else is going on here.
Honestly, I think it comes from growing up, too. You feel invincible when you’re a kid doing these things, but after a few injuries and some more maturity, doubt creeps in when you’re throwing your body through space in dangerous ways. She talked about the difference being 24 is to being 19, how you understand more that you can get seriously injured.
She didn’t quit on herself alone. She quit her team.
I played high school football with young men that played bleeding, broken, dislocated, and throwing up to help the team. You don’t quit on your team. You don’t quit on your country.
If she was in such bad shape, she should have dropped out prior, giving another person a chance to compete.
Agreed...
