Simone Biles pulled out of the finals of the gymnastics team event at the Tokyo Olympics on Tuesday, dealing a massive blow to Team USA’s chances of securing the gold medal as they face a resurgent Russian team.
Biles left the competition floor after completing her first apparatus on the vault, the New York Times reported.
Biles, who was supposed to do a Yurchenko with two-and-half twists on the vault, pulled out only after one-and-a-half twist and then stumbled on the landing.
It’s unclear if the gymnast, widely considered the greatest of all time, was injured during the event.

US Women’s Siccer team barely advanced after tie with Australia
For the first time in my life I’m hoping the US Olympic teams get wiped out.

Nerves..
She must be hurt. I hope she is okay. She has abstained from wokeness to the best of my knowledge.
- Commercialism sucks.
-Sobering reality of pandemic needs to be acknowledged and mentally dealt with. (Aka: no audience or crowds.)
- Re: team sports especially. Woke narratives don’t give you victorious fuel or greater purpose and mission. Team USA basketball fell.
Also social media and being too caught up in hype is WAY toxic.
especially the women’s soccer team
is she really woke?? I’ve not seen or read as much.
The US swimmers were terrible for the most part yesterday except for a teenager from Alaska who stole the show
Considering she dominated the ‘16 Olympics and everything since, i highly doubt its nerves.
I don’t think she’s “woke”, I’d say either she is hurt or so upset with herself for making errors that she pulled out. I had heard that they were not scoring her at the same level as the other gymnasts because she is so good. That the officials didn’t want the girls to get hurt trying to compete with her...... pathetic.
I’ve not heard any wokeness from her other than to highlight the absurd sexual abuse the women’s gymnastics team went through for years which the FBI knew about but did nothing.
BTW: “Simone Biles, four-time Olympic gold medalist and fan favorite of the Rio Olympics, recently completed a 36-city tour promoting her new autobiography, Courage to Soar. In it she describes the many struggles she had to overcome to reach the Olympics and become one of the most talented athletes of all time.
However, the book does not only highlight the training and sacrifices that she had to make, but also the role her Catholic faith played in driving her to success.
Biles said recently in an interview with the Houston Chronicle, “Kids today talk about faith, and I think it’s OK for me to share my faith so kids can see how it helps you through the whole process.”

NBC aired a brief segment on Biles where she seemed a bit overwhelmed, and said it was difficult to continue to do the extensive training needed every day, she always had some nagging injury, and at 24 years old, she didn’t have the same energy she had at 19.
I found it surprisingly negative for a media puff piece on a favored Olympic athlete - but now it seems to have a basis in reality.
There was an interview with Simone, before she withdrew, I believe. She said as she’s gotten older, she’s started to worry about risk, getting hurt, etc. ie “when I do this, this could happen”. So yes to “nerves” & not fearless any more. She also said that every day when she gets up to go the gym, there is pain - something is always hurting.
If I had to guess, I would say she’s going to retire from competitive gymnastics after this, based on her comments. I don’t think her heart is in it any more, either. There is a life beyond competitive gymnastics & I would think it’s time for her to find it.
Hate to say it but for the first time ever in my live i find myself rooting against team USA- i NEVER thought that would happen- NEVER.
Of course they are not all woke- its just the wkoe SOB’s get all the ink.
Isn’t she getting a little old for this sport? When I do hear anything about this sport, the girl is usually 15-18. It’s not she is a flight attendant and needs to work forever past her prime.
Except for these guys (IF you can find any mention of them on one of the online streaming services)! Both of them stood and placed their hand over their heart during the anthem!
Trapshooting finals are Thursday, I believe, and among the USA shooting competitors is a fellow Arkansan-a nice young lady from the metropolis of Wooster, Arkansas!
Go USA shooting!!!!
Care factor: Still 0.0.
Tough loss. She is mentally not ready for these games. For some reason. For two pasts Olympics, she was a pillar of mental strength in the same vein as Phelps and other all time greats.
Like the veteran swimmers, this extra year of waiting and training seems to have gotten in their heads. The young rookies are taking over this games for the the Americans.
I was very happy to see that Naomi Osaka lost her tennis match.
