Abiotic oil is a myth. I personally have done thousands of geochemical analysts on the biogenic markers in crude oils on 6 of seven continents not a single one of them was not consistent with biomarkers from marine diatoms, marine algae, freshwater algae and diatoms, and VERY rarely coally resinitic type markers from deltaic or littoral marine.

An interesting and informative post. Not a quibble, but it raises the question from someone uninformed, what are the biomarkers used? Are there one or two papers on the Internet that discusses them?
