I was living in the Philippines in 1969. In Manila, there is a place called MacArthur Park ( NO SURPRISE. Before Arnold, the General was the FIRST to say, “I’ll be BACK.” ) When I first heard Richard Harris’s, “MacArthur Park” on a local Filipino radio station I was IMPRESSED! Imagine a Top 40 Radio hit based on a park in Manila, Philippines .. . and YES, I HAVE been out in MacArthur Park in the rain !! NEVER did find THAT cake .. .

When I first heard MacArthur Park, I was impressed because MacArthur was a hero of mine--a general who sought victory over Communism. And that cake in question was probably a bibingka.
