For pregnant women and young adults who have just left foster care. Oh boy, illegal pregnant women will be coming even more from foreign countries to get their guaranteed income now.

California should replace the bear on their flag with a train wreck.

Reminds me of Venezuela. Those who can flee. And the State coffers run dry. No free refills either.

Federal taxpayers are subsidizing this.

Actually, funded by the imaginary number that is commonly known as the National Debt. A thousand years from now, it will be compared to the Golden Calf. Just a question of who will play Moses.

I wonder if it’ll make it a year before the inevitable “State funded pilot program shuts down without admitting failure” happens?

I’m reminded of a fav sci-fi story from years ago-”Riders of the Purple Wage”-it didn’t end well in the story, and it won’t in Cali, either...

"California should replace the bear on their flag..."

Kleptoparasite ~ An animal that steals from others.

Not native to Cali

Maybe the seagull?

Yep, just make sure to call yourself a “birthing person”, that’s their new libspeak code word for a man who can’t have kids but thinks they can.

“They apparently tried it in a limited way, and the results were so negative that they canceled any plans of instituting this mistake nationwide. “

I think the difference is, Denmark and Finland intended to help people. I don’t think there’s any such intention in California. I suspect it’s for two purposes, getting receivers to vote for them and, getting the new state employees to vote for them. The experiment in Denmark was cancelled after a fairly short...truncated test. The experiment was fully funded and had not used up its funding. The results were so bad that they unanimously ended it early. But, they refused to answer questions about what, exactly, went wrong. The people who had instituted the program were true believers. They didn’t want to admit that whatever happened had happened. Possibly, it was embarrassing, or, possibly, it called into question other less radical plans.

I have been reading a lot about South Africa recently.

At least 1/3 of the population in S.A. receive one of the several major welfare programs - Child Support Grant, Foster Child Grant, Unemployment Insurance, Old Age Pension, etc... about 15% live in some kind of government-subsidized housing.

South Africa has 22.2 million registered taxpayers, of which 6.3 million were expected to submit tax returns. 1.58 million people are shouldering over 80% income tax paid. Ie) like California, tax rates are highly skewed

I was surprised to learn they have adopted most of the spend & tax policies of the West. I have no idea how a country like theirs affords it

In sum, I am surprised how similar South Africa is to America’s cities and welfare-states.

Putting the funds into the hands of local government and organizations ...with everyone there skimming off the top ..without question. What a scam ...Basically taking your taxpayer money into their pockets....Pay Day!
