Audit finds folds behind New Hampshire election miscount

Auditors concluded that miscounts in a New Hampshire election were primarily caused by the way ballots were folded, according to a report released Tuesday.

The audit, mandated by the legislature, was called by lawmakers from both parties after a losing Democratic candidate in a legislative race in the town of Windham requested a recount. That recount showed Republican candidates getting hundreds more votes than were originally counted.

The discrepancy drew the attention of former President Donald Trump and his supporters in their effort to find evidence of his wider claim of election fraud from 2020. Critics of the audit said before the report was finalized they felt it had not gone far enough to find the source of the miscount.

“I still have a lot of questions that have to be answered. I still have questions in my mind about the folds and a couple of other items,” Bruce Breton, a member of the Windham Board of Selectmen, said. “Are the folds the real reason for the miscount?”

“This supposedly benefitted the Republicans.”

Which is why the AP is reporting it.

“wouldn’t this, in a sane society, require the entire state to conduct a manual recount to see if folds were missed in other jurisdictions?”

Yes, you would think so. However, here in NH there are different ballot counting machines depending on the town you live in. Windham used one kind of machine. My town in NH uses another machine. The cities of Manchester, Portsmouth, Nashua and Concord use Dominion counting machines.

So, yes the State Legislature should consider an audit of the towns with this type of machine. Whether this happens or not, only time will tell.

Sorry, I thought the recount showed that the original votes had been several hundred more for the Republicans because of the fold and thus were not valid.

What kind of a voting machine can’t properly tabulate a ballot with folds? The manufacturer didn’t foresee it and and the board of elections didn’t test it? C’mon....

All the Republicans gained about 500 votes after the democrat demanded a recount. She lost about 33.

So you will have to look elsewhere to find an example.

This is another example of democrat privilege.

Do you realize that not once, not one goddamn single time, did Michael Casey -- one of the premiere blueblood crAPhounds -- mention the Democrat candidate's name in that piece, that requested the NH recount that found shoddy ballot-handling practices.

Kristi St. Laurent.

Not only did Casey omit her name, but his agitprop reeks of his own personal dismay in having to write about recounts and vote audits.

Up yours, Michael Casey.
