New York, Illinois counties experiencing sharpest population declines

For the first time ever, California posted a population decline in 2020, and the United States as a whole didn’t fare much better. Its growth has decelerated to 0.35% year-over-year, the slowest growth rate since the Great Depression.

Population experts blame the slowing growth rate on three big trends: families across the country are aging and having fewer kids, legal immigration has declined, and economic hardships extending all the way back to the dot-com crash have shifted priorities away from marriage and families. While some contributing factors are down across the board, other social and economic factors have disproportionately impacted specific counties and states, exacerbating the problems for certain areas.

(And they wonder why some people are skeptical that Biden received 81 million votes from actual living, breathing human beings who are US citizens and who filled out their own ballots.)

Interestingly, Suffolk County, NY, a suburban/resort/rural county, also suffered population decline, placing it in the top 15. With respect to the NYC boroughs, you have to wonder if illegals are undercounted. Additionally, I am sure the census statistics, which date to early 2020, do not reflect people leaving New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles because of the COVID shutdowns of businesses and sharply increasing crime rates in the last 15 months.

With all of these NYC counties losing population, shouldn’t we be losing a couple NY state US congress reps?
Maybe AOC ???

We will be out of Illinois just as soon as we possibly can be.

There are large groups of conservatives who refuse to have a hospital delivery. They also understand they cannot take the kids as dependents on taxes but feel the benefit is worth the cost.

They really don’t trust the government.

So send them all the recent border jumpers. Bus ‘em right in there.

New York will be losing congressional districts, including at least one in NYC. There was talk of Gerrymandering AOC out of her district, but the Dems didn’t have the nerve to pull the trigger. She would probably win the primary in whatever fragments of her district were left.

New York City is peculiar in that it has five counties inside it. Each of the counties is contiguous with a borough. The Borough of Manhattan is also New York County. The Borough of Brooklyn is Kings County. The Borough of Staten Island is Richmond County. The Bronx and Queens have the same names as counties and boroughs. (Kings and Queens County. Get it?)

If you’ve ever seen Anthony Weiner’s former district, it literally looked like a poodle. They carved out white areas in Brooklyn and Queens, mostly Jewish, to give him a majority white district among a bunch of minority districts. It was comical.

“Large Groups” is going to be an understatement. Even home births get issued birth certificates. And the loonies that don’t are just making life for their kids harder down the line, not having an SSN or BC that they will eventually need.

“So, is this Good-bye?”

Yes, but I never operated the land, so I wasn’t tied to it. My wife and I had planned to move out of Illinois after we retired. We both managed to be diagnosed with cancer within a year. We are being treated in Iowa City and will move there to be closer. Prognosis is excellent for both of us. After treatment is complete we will move again further south.

That's been lost on our philosopher-kings since 1973.

Per our Constitution: We the People . . . to secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our posterity do ordain and establish this Constitution . . .

Scotus believes one generation can 'off the entirety of the next generation and thus end our republic.

Roe was nonsense. Fifty plus million and counting.

Whatever you feel is your truth, but were you first in line to get your vaccination and carry the certificate around with you? I mean, not getting it will probably make your life harder down the line.

Mid-wives issue BCs and once the children are 18 they can get an SSN fairly easy with the BC. Some people are more judicious with the information they give to the government than we are.
