Anthony Fauci characterized the delta strain of the coronavirus as a "nasty variant" during an interview on Sunday.
Appearing on ABC's "This Week," Fauci said Americans who are not vaccinated against the coronavirus should be concerned about a spike in delta variant cases.
"It's very clear that this is a nasty variant. It has a much greater capacity of transmitting from person to person," Fauci said, adding the vaccines that are being used in America to fight the coronavirus "are working very well" and do protect against the delta variant.
"The bad news is that we have a very nasty variant. The good news is that we have a vaccine that works against it," Fauci said.
The nation's leading infectious diseases expert also voiced concern about what he called a "schism between some states and some areas that have a very low level of vaccination."
President Biden last week renewed a call for all Americans to be vaccinated against the coronavirus, saying his administration is prepared to be more aggressive in fighting vaccine misinformation and eliminating barriers to inoculation for all citizens.
"It’s never been easier, and it’s never been more important," Biden said. "Do it now for yourself and the people you care about, for your neighborhood, for your country. It sounds corny, but it’s a patriotic thing to do."

That is the natural evolution of a successful virus. It becomes less deadly as to kill the host stops the transmission. It becomes more contagious as this enhances transmission. I have just described covid. I have also described the common cold.
HIV is the odd virus. It kills you be over many years. Thus the infected are a vector for years and often do not even know it. HIV is a very successful virus.
Ebola although almost always fatal is not a successful virus. It kills quickly and thus eliminates its vector for transmission. It is a very bad virus but not truly successful.
Maybe they should have given it a more menacing name, like “delta-x twelve” or something that makes snowflakes think assault weapon.
A white cowboy in Wyoming and a Black or Hispanic who use mass transit in New York don't have the same level of risk of contracting, being hospitalized for or dying from COVID.
I'm sure that Fauci actually knows this.

He ran to CNN to contradict ‘news’ of Pfizer/Israel recommending booster shots just to stoke controversy, the evil little bureaucratic tyrant dweeb that he is.
Coming out against boosters sets up the fall for what I predicted. I hope I’m wrong: It ain’t gonna be pretty.

I think that he’s blaming the variant for ADE in vaxxed people.
Just what we all saw coming months ago and many doctors have been warning about.
The only reason I can imagine for this medical insanity is to further hype the pandemic, exercise control over the citizens, and make a lot of money with “vaccines” for a lot of connected insiders.>>>. Critical reason why the antivirals were outlawed was to insure that the gene therapies were accepted as vaccines. Up till now they were not accepted and were having problems with tests/efficacy and such. Emergency authorization pushed all of the normal cautions aside and now the gene therapies are just about mandated.
