BREAKING: Allen West Declares Candidacy For Texas Governor, Will Challenge Abbott For GOP Nomination
National File ^ | July 4 | Tom Pappert

Posted on 07/04/2021 11:05:21 AM PDT by RandFan

Lieutenant Colonel Allen West announced his candidacy to become Governor of Texas this morning in a 7-minute video that detailed his history, celebrated the heroes of the Texas Revolution, and using comparisons to the Alamo, urged Texans to join him on the “right” side of the “line in the stand” with their vote.

“Now it is our time, it is our time to stand up and honor those words of Texas, Our Texas, and to secure the future for our children and our grandchildren, to make sure the growth, the opportunity, and the prosperity, the economic success that you see here in Texas, continues on,” said West, after exploring the Republic of Texas’s rich history of volunteers and politicians who came from other states. West, who was born in Georgia and attended the University of Tennessee noted that over 30 men from Tennessee were among the early leaders of the Republic of Texas, and those who fought at the Alamo.

“That means that we stay energy independent, and we fuel America, so that we’re not dependent on other nations – other nations that are our enemies,” said West. “To make sure that we secure our borders, to make sure that Texas is for Texans.” West added, “We cannot live in a state that is the number one state for human and sex trafficking in the United States of America. That’s not how we protect our children and our legacy.” West then suggested Texas needs modern heroes to match those of the Texas Revolution.

I wish Allen would have established residency in Georgia and planted his flag in Atlanta with Herschel Walker and Casting Crowns.

Publicity is always good for a future book deal?

I don’t think West will have any chance of knocking off Abbott, but at least it will keep Abbott honest thru the primary...

Poorly advised decision that could hurt an already tenuously red state. I like Alan West, but carpetbagging comes to mind and his ties to the state political establishment are certainly not as strong as Abbotts. Needs to run against Cornyn or one of the big city liberal US reps. Hate to hear this and will not be voting for him.

Allen West's political career consists of a single term in Congress, which he won on the second try and promptly lost again.

Great man, but he has a snowball's chance in hell of beating a popular incumbent Governor.

West could knock off Cornyn and he wouldn’t have to move.

BINGO!

If he does he can still take a shot at Gov. later.

Or perhaps a Cruz/West Gov./Lt Gov ticket later.

It depends on how much Cruz is wrapped up in being a Senator.

But straight to Gov against Abbott is a no win scenario.

.

As others have posted, Abbot went squishy during the plandemic™, which shows he can cave under pressure.

Abbott goes squishy every time he's not actively campaigning for office. I wouldn't vote for him for dog catcher.

I didn’t know a Georgian could be a carpetbagger. Thought they came from north of the Mason-Dixon Line.
If this is the case, will Texas take back that asshat lankford.

“I like Allen West, but why? Abbot is kicking ass.”

This conservative, Trump-loving Texan certainly has NO ISSUE with Abbott. I already credit him for fighting to keep our election clean, when the big-city politicians were trying to pull a Stacy Abrams.
