Educators around the country have come out to condemn a 'Dismantling Racism in Mathematics' program which tells teachers not to push students to find the correct answers to math problems because doing so promotes white supremacy.
The program is centered around a workbook for teachers entitled 'A Pathway to Equitable Math Instruction' which asserts that America's education system – even mathematics instruction – reinforces the dominant power structures of white colonizers.
Grading students, asking them to show their work, requiring participation and even pushing them to get the right answer are depicted in the workbook as harmful to minorities.
The workbook was created by Oakland, California-based advocacy group The Education Trust-West under its 'Dismantling Racism in Mathematics Instruction' initiative, which is funded through a $1million grant from The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

In the movie HIDDEN FIGURES,3 brilliant math wizards help NASA..Their job title is computers....ALL 3 WERE BLACK WOMEN....Which means they learned math in the 1940’s and 50’s...How is that possible if math has always been racist?????
I remember having a discussion in 1999 as to why midnight, December 31 of that year was not the turn of the century or the turn of the millennium—both would occur one year later.
I had someone try to patiently explain to me that ‘different cultures look at these things in different ways’.
B.S. Different cultures may look at it in different ways, but different cultures would be wrong. It’s just simple math. If you start with year 1 as the first year of the 1st century, the second century doesn’t start until year 101.

I got my first clue when he funded a new art museum in Seattle. I went soon after it opened. All about grandiose architecture with very few paintings, none of them really good ones. All style, no content. And now he’s even dumber.
Is math racist? We use a base 10 counting system because all people have ten digits on their hands.
A very rare few may have six digits on each hand giving them a base 12 counting system.
So if you have eight fingers and two thumbs you have a base 10 counting system. How many does each race have?

I’ll admit that there are times when absolute answers aren’t necessary. Being able to do quick rough estimates is itself a valuable skill. You still need to know how to get the accurate answer as well though.
