Rumors that China's top "spy catcher" has defected to the United States and is giving the Biden information about the Wuhan Institute of Virology and the leak of the coronavirus, if proven true, could "even lead to the fall of the Communist Party," China expert Gordon Chang told Newsmax on Saturday.
"This is so explosive it could lead to a chain of events, which would sever relations between China and the United States," Chang, the author of "The Coming Collapse of China," told Newsmax's "The Count," adding Bejing appears to be in a panic over the reports.
The reports claim Chinese official Dong Jingwei, a vice-minister who took over responsibility for the country's counter-intelligence three years ago, reportedly flew from Hong Kong to the United States in February with his daughter, reports South Asia news service ANI quoting SpyTalk, a newsletter covering U.S. intelligence, defense, and foreign affairs policy.
There has been no official comment from China, but according to SpyTalk, Dong reportedly gave the Biden administration information that caused it to change its stance on the Wuhan laboratory and to reconsider the potential the coronavirus that caused the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic came from the lab, rather than from nature.
If the rumors turn out to be true, Dong's defection would be the highest level in the history of the People's Republic of China.
Han Lianchao, a former Chinese ministry official who defected after the 1989 massacre at Tiananmen Square, said the issue of Dong's defection was brought up during the summit between China and the United States in Anchorage earlier this year.
Han, citing an unnamed source, tweeted China's Foreign Minister, Wang Yi, and Yang Jiechi, who is in charge of the Communist Party's foreign affairs, demanded of Secretary of State Antony Blinken that Dong be returned...

Exactly. I had respect for Gordon Chang until I read this. He cannot be so delusional to where he isn’t aware biden and the dems aren’t in bed with the communists.
This is out of Biden’s hands. According to Red State which broke the story to begin with, the DIA kept the defector secret from the FBI an CIA. The Biden administration itself didn’t even know there was a defector when the ChiComs confronted them about their missing man.
What’s coming out will hopefully not just sink the CCP, but Biden too who engaged in a coverup of the origins of the Kung Flu.

I get the two confused all the time. One difference between them is language - some of the Chinese speak better English than some of the Americans.
Do you thing, just possibly, that the CCP may have planted this person as part of a massive disinformation program? Our agencies act upon that “intelligence”, then while thus preoccupied, miss the REAL objectives of the CCP.

Too intricate. While the Russkies would send us fake defectors all the time, they would always send people to tell us what we want to hear.
No one in the Biden administration, the FBI or the CIA want to hear what this guy is saying. The media won’t even report on it despite a former Fox News reporter and Red State covering this information more than a week or two ago, and yet ALL are reacting to it by suddenly permitting debate about the origins of the virus. Pretty soon they’ll try to spin this as a major accomplishment of the Biden administration, despite the DIA deliberately HIDING it from the administration and its minions.
‘Double agent’ comes to mind.
CCP historically does not permit travel to officials unless they have ‘interests’ at home (for obvious reasons).
Unless his daughter was one of the reported agents of their ‘thousand talents’ program.
Watching this closely, but dubious, as I’m sure many in our government are as well.
But it’s not outside the realm that they guy basically running the program used one of its Achilles heels against it to his benefit, nor that the CCP is so bloated that it’s becoming increasingly difficult to track everyone (why they’re relying increasingly upon ‘apps’).

Our reliance on China could be a national security disaster. Could you imagine us in a prolonged war with China? Will they keep sending us the chips for our modern-day weapons if we’re in a war? LOL. They could easily cut off our supply from Taiwan too. Sorry but I just couldn’t see us going long at all. That’s just an example. There are too many things we rely on China for.
It needs to be added that Trump tried to bring a lot of this manufacturing back to the USA. Unfortunately, there were deep-state hurdles every step of the way.

Gordon Chang has a lot to say. If any of it has gone anywhere or panned out, I must have missed it.
He used to be on the John Bachelor show a lot. I loved that show because of John Bachelor’s sort of high-tone way of talking and all the ominous-storm-clouds gathering music. It was all sizzle and no steak, but oh, that sizzle!
Wouldn’t he know that most of DC won’t want what he must know made public? How can he be any safer here than in China? He should have done this while Trump was POTUS.
Chang is an ever-optimist when it comes to the fall of the CCP. He doesn’t realize that the CCP doesn’t care what others know. They will just keep plugging away, and if it takes them an extra five years to implement their plans, they can wait.
