CNN) The Senate unanimously passed a resolution on Tuesday establishing June 19 as Juneteenth National Independence Day, a US holiday commemorating the end of slavery in the United States.
The legislation has gained momentum since the massive Black Lives Matter protests sparked by the police killing of George Floyd last year and the Democrats' takeover of the White House and Congress.

At first I thought that headlines was “a feral holiday.”
Do we really need a misspelled holiday?
Juneteenth, WTF kind of spelling is that?
And yet another holiday to endlessly gin up grievances.
White people will be fined and/or jailed if they are found “celebrating” in anyway.
Unless you are white and a federal union member...er...employee.
It just started last summer.
IMO, it’s part of the plan to divorce us from our history and heritage as a nation. It’s a little bit at a time.
Cancel the usual holidays cause of COVID, Start adding new ones one at a time, and then gradually phase out the other ones.
Then a new generation will grow up knowing NOTHING about our history and what makes us America.
They can officially cancel holidays and observances, but we as individuals can keep celebrating them and letting our kids know why.
Although, under bidens’ snitch program, maybe those who do will be considered potentially radicalized, and get reported on their snitch lines for their trip to the government’s re-education camps.
Just what America needs, another federal holiday. More folks getting paid for not working.

As a federal worker I have to agree with you. The holidays are out of control. Most years the President decides to give us Christmas eve even though it is not an official holiday.
Why do non Veterans get paid for Veterans day? Even worse for me I can’t even get Veterans day off because I don’t have enough seniority, meanwhile non Veterans who have more seniority get the day off.
How do I get rid of Juneteenth on my Android’s calendar, which automatically populates holidays (as if “Juneteenth” is an actual holiday)? I can’t make it go away!

Note that Christmas is NOT on the calendar.
Never any mention of their hypocrisy on voting rights, Jim Crow, the Klan, to name a few.
Another day off for the governmental gold brickers masquerading as “civil servants”.
WTF?
I don’t mind another paid holiday, but they need To reaffirm Columbus Day, Washington’s Birthday, etc. let’s embrace our history!
