Last time I checked, we no longer have a military. Instead it is a social justice organization that gets to yeah so around the world.
I was on the Crusader project. If built it would have been the largest, heaviest mobile cannon since various failed Nazi projects. It was supposed to, at some point, been electrically driven. I talked to the engineers and they agreed the notion was impossible. Agreeing to stupid requirements, as long as they don’t affect profits, is how you get contracts. Besides, everyone knew the project was so stupid it would never go into production.
