The purpose of the Federal Holidays were to honor a particular event and reflect upon its relevance. Changing them to “Day Off” removes any significance associated with that particular day. In time, this eliminates our culture as we know it, destroys family values and moves people toward a “Government is my God” mentality. The good people of this country need to fight back and fight hard, the end is near.

I look at it the other way around. Most Americans don’t have a clue about the historical significance of these observances, and the holidays have become little more than a day off for shopping and sales. So perhaps we should just eliminate the holidays, make government workers show up for work every day, and let people who find the days meaningful observe them.

Over the years I’ve found myself working more on civil holidays anyway — and taking the religious ones off.
