I believe that in the area of antidepressants, of which I am familiar, more than three choices are justified. These aren’t strictly equivalent substitutes, as sub-classes exist. We aren’t very good yet at predicting which AD will serve a particular patient the best and it is a matter of trial and error sometimes.

Compared to 80% safety of new drugs, covid vaccines in USA are 99.5% safe based on 173,000,000 vaccinated and way less than one million problems.

First they tell you that may help for the Blood sugarc or diabetes or whatever.
Then they tell you it’ll probably make your penis turn black and fall off or you’ll die of lung disease or cancer.
All the while in the background there are paid actors looking like they’re having a good time dancing purportedly because they use the drug.
