The Russian military is more technologically advanced than the U.S. realized and is quickly developing artificial intelligence capabilities to gain battlefield information advantage, an expansive new report commissioned by the Pentagon warned.
The federally funded Center for Naval Analyses examined the Kremlin’s whole-of-government approach for artificial intelligence development and found it is largely driven by the perceived threat from the United States, combined with lessons learned from its continuing conflicts in Syria and Ukraine about what the future battlefield will look like, the report released Monday said.
However, the Russian government faces limitations because its AI efforts are primarily government funded, and it lacks a strong defense industrial base, noted the report, written on behalf of the Pentagon’s Joint Artificial Intelligence Center. Still, analysts cautioned Pentagon leadership not to underestimate the Russia’s technological advances as the U.S. pivots its strategic focus to the Indo-Pacific. The Russian military has been undergoing modernization since 2009.
“This is a very different military, qualitatively especially, and they are trying to be flexible in ways that we don’t give them credit for,” said Sam Bendett, a co-author and research analyst at the Center for Naval Analyses. “This is a different military than the ones that existed prior to 2009 and going forward it’s going to become more high tech [and] more integrated. It’s going to be more flexible. It’s going to use different approaches to try and gain that advantage.”

Russia is wasting their money: all they have to do is fly two flags: “pride rainbow” & “BLM” , and our newly woke armed forces will genuflect in respect.
America needs to quit fighting the last War and figure out to win the next one.
“The federally funded Center for Naval Analyses “
Pining for their share of free money.
And China has the largest navy in the world.
And their “still on the drawing board” H-20 stealth bomber outclasses anything the US has.
blah blah blah
I’ve got dozens of ‘em.
Meanwhile, our military is focused “diversity”, making sure female are placed in combat units, even if not physically qualified, and promoting BLM.

The first movie I remember that dealt with AI.
The film is based upon the 1966 science fiction novel Colossus by Dennis Feltham Jones.
Good movie for the time.
I’ve got the soundtrack.

and not woke.
America needs to quit fighting the last War and figure out to win the next one.
China already has figured it out as they switched to biological warfare with the help of our adorable Fauci.
My thoughts exactly.
I would watch it today.
I think the plot is very realistic (with the exception that there is no USSR today).
I put in the class of the ‘Andromeda Strain’.
The part of the movie where the computer required CCTV cameras installed everywhere to monitor the scientist was prescient.
Today it would be very easy for the computer as there are plenty of webcams/security cams on the internet that it could use to monitor almost everyone.
They are, but the re imagined Woke warrior military views Americans as the enemy. All they will need to to put down all of us who are not sufficiently enthusiastic about their fanciful view of the world.
Russia?
Nothing matters except that queers and trannys feel included.
US leaders need remember the point of a military.
Russia and China understand the point of war, and are willing to subjugate & sacrifice their own to win. The one thing I got out of reading War And Peace is how little concern Russians have for the risk of death (“a shell just exploded, killing the man next to me - oh well, maybe I’m next.”)
I have never been a believer in aliens from outer space.
Little green men in flying saucers??? Ha Ha.
But it does intrigue me that almost all of the reports we have read of UFO’s have been by Navy pilots and over or near the oceans.
I am beginning to suspect that possibly the Russians have developed drones that can be launched by submerged submarines. The report recently that one descended into the sea struck me as odd. The report did not speak as though it were a crash into the sea, but sounded like a controlled descent.
Obviously a machine that could do that would not look like the flying machines we are familiar with.
Especially since OUR military is giving away locations of our nuclear weapons, right down to the actual buildings they are housed, easily accessible on maps on unsecured websites anyone can access.
Well...the REAL war is against climate change, according to top brass.
This must have been a remarkably shallow analysis. Shame, CNA usually does decent work.
