In the daze of Carter, if one could get to Breezewood, Pa., there was plenty of gas as allocations were based on historical use and peeps were not traveling about so much as gas availability was spotty.
I carried a couple of 5 gal cans to help on the range issues.
Much better these days to have some “carryover” Diesel cars where storing and hauling Diesel is much safer.
I have access to some way newer gas vehicles for long trips, but may have to put the Diesels into longer trip service for the BiXiden duration. [I still have a few months of local travel Diesel from the 2019/2020 Winter to burn up - Fauxcy’s Virus shut down the Ski Areas so miles traveled decreased]
The bad news is the country is falling apart - the good news is NOT ONE WHITE PERSON has used the 'N' word in months... What 'matters', right?
Yeah having 40 gallons in sidesaddle tanks plus another 20 in cans in the bed was not the safest plan, but I was young and crazy LOL.
When they met, the Carters must have told the Bidens how to have a gas shortage.
US considering foreign tankers to move domestic fuel supplies
https://www.freightwaves.com/news/us-considering-foreign-tankers-to-move-domestic-fuel-supplies
The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) is assessing whether American tankers can meet emergency fuel demands caused by the Colonial Pipeline shutdown or if foreign ships will be needed to help fill the gap.
“The Biden-Harris administration is continually assessing the impact of the ongoing Colonial Pipeline incident on fuel supplies for the East Coast and is monitoring reported shortages in parts of the Southeast,” DOT stated Tuesday. “This ongoing effort includes evaluating resources the federal government can mobilize to mitigate potential impacts.”
One of those resources is the U.S. domestic tanker fleet, of which there are 57, according to the latest data from the U.S. Maritime Administration (MarAd). If MarAd determines that there is not enough capacity available to move the needed fuel supplies, the administration will consider waiving the Jones Act, allowing foreign ships to step in.
The Jones Act requires vessels moving between U.S. ports be built, flagged and crewed in the United States.
After MarAd conducts a survey of Jones Act-qualified ships, the Department of Homeland Security, through Customs and Border Protection, has the authority to receive and approve waivers.
Vortexa, an energy analyst group, pointed out that Jones Act waivers can be provided to foreign tankers originally destined for international destinations that could then be rerouted to U.S. ports. (excerpt)
Land yachts! I had a 69 Chrysler New Yorker at one time. Thing was HUGE and absolutely just FLEW down the road. Hubby and I had the speedometer pegged one time, and it kept picking up speed! Finally got a little scary and we both decided enough fun, slow it down.
I have to think if this is really gonna happen, they expect a long outage. Because they would have to route the ships to the gulf, load them, and then sail to the east coast.
“Not to mention that most tanks are under 1/2 full generally.”
Interesting. Got a link?
Because of diurnal pressure changes and the likelihood of sucking water laden air into the tanks, I tend to keep the tanks pretty full.
Hampton Roads, Virginia. Massive lines at 4pm. I got gas at 6AM only because I saw an article about Atlanta in the British press last night. Half the pumps were out and all the others had premium only. Premium was $3.69. I normally use regular which would have been $2.89.
A friend cancelled a medical trip to John Hopkins in Baltimore today as she was afraid she wouldn’t be able to get back.
Yes, you’re good for now... if you had waited 24 hours you might not have been as lucky.
May all Democrats suffer...and suffer.
Well...I guess we will never know.
Nobody can figure it out.
Are these SOBs stupid or what?
No one was going to kick sand in Trump’s face...
The whole world’s lined up to humiliate Biden and his commie ‘WOKE’ idiots...
That’s the difference.
I was reading another article that even if they get things back online it will be another 20-30 days...
I’m glad I topped off yesterday in the burbs around Columbia. Small crowds then.
The past couple days were previously scheduled vacation ones doing things around here and at a storage facility. Very little travel. However back to the grind. My job really doesn’t allow telecommuting since it’s hardware and break/fix. I shudder to think what my dangerous friends have done in the past couple of days.
Typically, a full tank gets me Monday to Thursday.
Yay.
We’re one, maybe two generations away from complete collapse due to lack of competency.
Well if they have to shut down the refineries in TX and LA because they can’t move the product, you’re probably right.
Welcome Back, Carter!
I’m humming “Don’t cry for me, Argentina”.
/and Venezuela, too
Did the master minds behind Xiden Biden plan and enact this disturbance through foreign agents.
