I just wrote this elsewhere but I believe it applies here.

Let be fair: certainly maladies like polio HAVE been eradicated by vaccines. We can probably put rabies (yes...I know...animals...work with me) and tetanus on that list as well. These are net benefits to society, and a great example of eradication policy making good on its promise.

But let's be honest as well: if COVID19 is akin to influenza insofar as it mutates, abates then returns, afflicts the weak and those with comorbidities, AND (here's the big one) is tamed - but not cured - by immunizations (influenza vaccines recently were maybe 50% effective), then an honest discussion should emanate.

Or, being blunt, this bug isn't polio and the vaccine - perhaps helpful as a management tool - won't render people immune for life. Promising eradication via vaccination is like promising the end to world hunger...

Agree, with all, except the ‘and the vaccine - perhaps helpful as a management tool’ part, as it relates to china virus.

We simply do not know the total efficacy, nor the long term safety, of these expiremental shots.

It is interesting why we cannot conquer the common cold or influenza after all these years, everybody being exposed, influenza vaccines (against some strains). These viruses are really persistent, sneaky, and constantly mutate and evolve (“antigenic drift”).
...the same novel strain of flu first introduced in 1918 appears to be the direct ancestor of every seasonal and pandemic flu we’ve had over the past century.

“You can still find the genetic traces of the 1918 virus in the seasonal flus that circulate today,” says Jeffrey Taubenberger. “Every single human infection with influenza A in the past 102 years is derived from that one introduction of the 1918 flu.”

(Jeffrey Taubenberger was part of the pioneering scientific team that first isolated and sequenced the genome of the 1918 flu virus in the late 1990s.)

Why the 1918 Flu Pandemic Never Really Ended

“this bug isn’t polio and the vaccine ... won’t render people immune for life.”

This bug, WuFlu, isn’t polio and this vaccine isn’t a vaccine.

The first thing we need to do is realize and admit that the chaos and frenzy is not a medical issue primarily. This is, and has been, 75% political. Once we look at everything from the political perspective sanity might appear.

I’m on board for ACTUAL vaccines for ACTUAL threats, and have had pneumonia, shingles, polio, tetanus, etc., vaccines. When I know that survival with Covid is over 99.97%, then I know the panic and “vaccine” are political issues.

It’s not even technically a “vaccine”.

Not getting it.
