“Assault weapon” is a term made up by the media. So you can have a made up ban, Ms. Harris.
Please define what an assault weapon is. I suspect your definition is any semiautomatic weapon is an assault weapon but you won’t say that till you actually sign an executive order banning them.
As a practical matter, just how would she propose to accomplish this. Trump banning bump stocks was near zero impact as there were so few of them and until the Las Vegas terrorist attack, I bet 99% of Americans had never heard of them, even less owned one. But so-called assault weapons? If we accept that she means ARs and AKs, there are 10s of millions of these. Is she suggesting the government buy them back at $500 to $5,000 each? Is she suggesting we give them up for free? And, again, will she lead the government door-to-door to search for them? This is virtue signally as there is no way to effective ban and collect guns on the scale she proposes.

It doesn’t matter to me if they ban them or not. At best, they’ll place a ban on newly manufactured “assault weapons’ and those already in circulation will remain legal. The previous AWB didn’t impact. anyone who was prepared and a new AWB won’t either. As for me, I’m sticking with guns that aren’t attracting attention. Revolvers, lever actions, pump actions, bolt actions and single shot break actions.

As I have posted many times, military style rifles are just a smokescreen. Their ultimate goal is the total abolition of the RIGHT to own firearms of any type.
It has always been about handguns. Assault rifles are just a decoy to try and get their anti-gun foot in the door.
Once they get a ban on AWs then they will use the same reasons to go after handguns.
