* For some reason, Eric Nelson did not retain an expert to testify that the drug overdose was the exclusive, or nearly exclusive, cause of Floyd’s death. Instead, his expert testified that a number of factors combined to kill Floyd, and in the end the cause of his death was undetermined. Thus the prosecution experts’ testimony that Floyd died from asphyxia was not directly contradicted.
* Nelson followed this up in his closing argument by saying that there were multiple factors in play, and if any of those other elements–the drug overdose, Floyd’s heart disease and hypertension–contributed in the slightest degree to his death, then Chauvin can’t be convicted. This was from outer space. The jury was instructed, per Minnesota law, that it is sufficient if Chauvin’s actions were a “substantial causal factor” in Floyd’s death.
Thus, when Nelson finished, the prosecution asked Judge Cahill to re-read the instruction on disregarding comments of counsel that contradict the evidence or the court’s instructions on the law, and Cahill complied. Jerry Blackwell then began his rebuttal argument by blasting Nelson for misrepresenting the law on the critical issue of causation. So at the conclusion of the trial, the defense case was in tatters.
* The second major issue was Derek Chauvin’s intent. Here, too, I thought the trial was deficient. There was lots of evidence that Chauvin and the other officers didn’t follow the best practice, which would have been to get off Floyd and roll him over, once he stopped screaming and struggling. Several witnesses, including the Minneapolis Chief of Police, testified that this is what a reasonable police officer would have done.

Why are we paying money for courts?
Floyd didn’t deserve death but he certainly earned it. Chauvin was a sacrificial lamb to stop more damage and deaths. With a retrial/appeal he can get a better defense and maybe then the protestors will have left town. I can’t figure out for the life of me why the race pimps pick such piss poor examples of wasted protoplasm to make heroes.
Didn’t follow but I do wonder how the guy is guilty of three murder charges. I don’t know the law but it just sounds like they lynched him three times?
Because that is all he was charged with.
I am one of those that said the verdict was written before the trial and many a Freeper was sure he would get off because he didn't do anything wrong.

More likely the felony which Chauvin was committing which triggered the second-degree murder charge was third-degree murder and manslaughter.
The requirement was to intend to commit a felony, which in this case was assault as I understand it. Where evidence ? Anyone?
I wonder how many police will look for other employment?
I was dismayed, that, the verdict was returned in less then a day. I thought it would be a hung jury. The jury must have thought they had a get out jail free from Mad Maxine.
That’s my take. It has nothing to do with “black victim white cop” either. Once a person is in the custody of an officer, in cuffs, there’s a responsibility that no harm come to that person - especially when there’s 4 officers controlling him.
That Chauvin continued after consciousness was lost is worse. Was it wrong? Yes. Was it murder? No. It was an abuse of power, an assault, and completely unethical.

Chauvin should have been given a medal and a promotion. If Floyd had been white then NOTHING would have happened, no white riot, no one would have cared at all. The all a bunch of BS.
The biggest issue of all = Justice in America is no longer blind.
We could save time and money if, whenever there is a criminal case which involves a black person and a white person, we let Al Sharpton or Barack Obama decide what the verdict should be. It would spare ordinary citizens the bother of serving on a jury as well.
Let me open your eyes... It’s not about race. It hasn’t been about race. It will never be about race. It’s all about creating division, and thereby weakening America with an ultimate goal of its destruction.
By deliberately choosing to make victims of what ALWAYS turn out to be criminals, they get emotion-driven low-IQ folk to think they are victims, and get logic-driven law-abiding citizens with intelligence to feel powerless.
My thoughts today: I WANT MY COUNTRY BACK! I want a country where law-and-order IS the law, where criminals ARE punished, where those who disrespect and resist the authority of police officers receive whatever punishment is dished out.
I don't even grant that. The point is the verdict was predetermined. Ask why Ashli's murder is not even to be discussed and that was murder, pure and simple.
Consider being on the Chauvin jury and knowing that your name, address, your kids school and your employer will very probably be leaked to the media and BLM. Despite having serious doubts on one or more of the charges, would you be willing to be the sole holdout causing a hung jury? I would be inclined to simply go with the flow and vote guilty on all charges.
