More than 100,000 Russian troops in assault vehicles painted with "invasion stripes" were headed to Ukraine’s border Wednesday, intensifying fears of war between the neighboring nations.
The advancing force includes 1,300 battle tanks, 3,700 drones, 1,300 artillery and mortar units and 380 multiple launch rocket systems, according to documents leaked to the Daily Mirror.
Tensions between the countries have been escalating following Russia’s annexation of Ukraine’s Crimea territory in 2014, an attempt by Moscow to keep NATO away from its borders. Ukraine is not a member of NATO, but support for the organization has risen in recent years, and the country is allied with many NATO nations — including the U.S.

Too big to be an exercise.
Truth is the first casualty in war.
Could they be referring to identification panels so Russian aircraft can sort out who is who?
Aw come on man! Just war games!
Ping
That is what they are. I know that. But no one reading the article or the news cut would have a clue. For example, my wife read it and had no idea.
100,000 troops was the standard number in a Soviet army. For instance, there were 4 mechanized armies (w/35,000 tanks) on the East German border ready to pass through Fulda Gap during the Cold War.
Aircraft, and infantry with anti-tank missiles.
Goodbye Ukraine. Start planning for guerrilla warfare.
You can thank the DNC and MSM for your demise.
If it goes well for the Russian, they will just go on to the Polish border.
What will happen when half of the military refuse to follow the orders of democrat party generals?
I wasn’t sure. But we’ve all seen footage of US & Allied troops marking their vehicles during combat operations to make them extra visible to their own aircraft and forward observers. But “invasion stripes” hearkens back to the crude paint roller jobs on allied aircraft for the Normandy Invasion.
“The big losers in our november election are going to be Ukraine and Taiwan.”
I agree they will be among the losers. But let’s not forget we as conservative Patriots are the biggest losers as for now, our country is lost.
To the losers list I think I’d add Israel.
That is EXACTLY what they are. In the US we probably use pastels...but my point was they used the term in the headline, but edited out of the story.
This is the CIA and the EU trying to gin up a war between Russia and the Ukraine by getting Zelensky to start sending his troops to the Donbass region and threaten to join NATO. So far Putin has not gotten sucked into the vortex but he cannot afford to give up that port on the Black Sea and he will not countenance the Ukraine joining NATO.
Hopefully Trump is talking in his ear because with the GDP of Texas Putin cannot afford to occupy the Ukraine. They hate the Russians with a hatred that will never die and Putin would be faced with a stealth war he cannot afford. Its a gambit with no exit strategy.
Yes, they don’t want friendly fire incidents. Much of the hardware both sides have are the same considering they were both part of the Soviet Union so they need some way to differentiate between the two forces.

That’s a lot of hardware.
yep.
everything east of the river.
Does Joe owe Ukraine a favor since they gave him millions under the table?
“Invasion Stripes.” Most Americans will, hopefully, think of the black and white stripes painted onto the wings and fuselages of USAAF and RAF aircraft for the Normandy Invasion.
I saw a post a couple of days ago that mentioned the white stripes on the Soviet tanks that invaded Czechoslovakia in 1968 were to prevent “friendly fire.” I remember in intel school about 10 years later those stripes were mentioned and we were told that the Soviets had marked their armored vehicles with the stripes to indicate “friendly” versus “enemy” forces for an exercise that was going on or just ended in East Germany before the Soviets intervened against the Czechs who had revolted.
