THE CHAUVIN TRIAL SO FAR
owerline ^ | APRIL 8, 2021 | JOHN HINDERAKER

Posted on 04/08/2021 10:00:38 AM PDT by Hojczyk

Everyone is against him, including his own police department. The three officers who were with Chauvin on May 25, and who also have been charged, presumably won’t testify. Their lawyers will insist that they take the 5th–as, by the way, Floyd’s drug dealer did yesterday. The dealer was with Floyd on May 25 and pled the 5th on the ground that he may be prosecuted for supplying Floyd with the overdose of fentanyl that killed him. But the jury won’t see that.

The trial so far as been the world vs. Derek Chauvin and Eric Nelson. While the “dream team” prosecution has rotated counsel from the Attorney General’s office and various high-priced lawyers from Minnesota and D.C. who are working for free, Eric Nelson, outmanned and outgunned, has stood up alone for his client. Over the last two weeks, he has grown visibly tired and yesterday he lost control over some exhibits through sheer exhaustion. (No one who hasn’t tried a jury case, even one of relatively modest length like the Chauvin trial, can understand what hard work it is.) Maybe the jury will look down on him, compared with the well-heeled prosecution team. Then again, maybe they will relate to a classic underdog story.

The trial’s result likely will come down to the medical testimony on both sides that we have not yet seen. But so far, I think Chauvin’s defense has held its own, and probably has surprised most members of the jury. The political class may have expected to usher Derek Chauvin off to a speedy oblivion for the sake of a greater good, but instead, they have a fight on their hands.

I don’t think they should find Chauvin guilty based on the idea “there will be riots if we don’t”

“By kneeling on his neck for nine minutes, or so the coroner will argue.”

Actually no as the Medical examiners report clearly does NOT conclude that asphyxiation was the cause of death.

Why not post the actual link instead of some wacky mail/click converter? https://lawofselfdefense.com/chauvin-trial-day-7-wrap-up-defense-slaughters-on-cross-of-states-own-witnesses/

That is N OT the conclusion of the Medical Examiner.

The cause of death was given as "cardiopulmonary arrest complicating law enforcement subual, restraint and neck compression". Or so the Autposy said.

Try and keep up.

You might try and do the same.

They will point out that there is no one lethal dose for drugs like fentanyl.

That certainly is an entertaining approach. However, the amount of fentanyl/metamphetamine and the
autopsy discovery that George's lungs were 1.5 to 2x their normal weight, being sloppy with drug induces fluid,
concludes that he died of dry-land drowning.

No amount of CPR, EMT intervention, lack of physical restraint, or ER efforts was going to save
Mr. Floyd from his self inflicted drug overdose.

This officer is innocent of murder or any thing else leading to he death of this drug-addled thug. I feel ashamed for all the FReepers that condemned this man for doing his job. I hope he gets his back pay and monetary damages so that he doesn’t have to work again for a day in his life.

Or do you have a different autopsy?

>>>Looters gotta loot.<<<

We know that there are poor, unfortunate, downtrodden ex-slaves that really, really, really need a big screen TV. After all, rioting equals reparations according to a BLM spokesthug.

[[I don’t think they should find Chauvin guilty based on the idea “there will be riots if we don’t”]]

They by all rights should not rule based on that- however, many fear that that is exactly whaT will happen because blm and antifa have already threatened everyone with violence if they come to any other conclusion than guilty. Jurors will fear for their lives if they vote not guilty-

I pray there are enough brave jurors who will vote objectively based on the evidence, but the left have created domestic terrorists to deal with anyone that ‘gets uppitty’ and doesn’t toe the liberal agenda line

Possibly. Maybe he was a dead man walking...unless something else killed him first. The coroner will say it was the police. The defense will have to prove otherwise.

it has been said that a dose of just 2 (ml? i think is the measurement?) can be fatal- and point out that george had 11 in his system, and also had a lethal dose of another drug (Meth i think?) too as well as a couple more drugs in his system (but not at lethal levels)

one of the folks who examined him i believe made a statement that even if they had found george at home, they would have found him dead from overdose because of the amount of drugs in his system, plus his serious 2 heart problems, plus recovering from covid-

George killed himself- it was just a matter of where he was going to die from the overdose- unfortunately it happened while being restrained- Had the cops not showed up- George almost certainly was going to die of his overdoses- by the time the cops got to the scene, he was already having trouble breathing- as you pointed out-

That is a fact that the prosecution can’t cover up-

Right a heart attack for a addict with heart disease who had upon examination THREE times the amount of Fentynal in his system then what is normally considered fatal.

Since it has now been determined the knee was not on his neck but between his shoulders much of the time and prosecution witness after witness has been obliterated by defense attorney Nelson with one of them even now to be called as a defense witness, why would you believe death was caused by direct action of the Police.

I mean you do know about the reasonable doubt thingy....right?

From the article: "The trial’s result likely will come down to the medical testimony on both sides that we have not yet seen."

Not true. The trial result will come down to the politics of the jury. Will all 12 of them leave their politics out of it and make a decision based on the evidence only? I doubt it.
