Former Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) is blaming former President Trump for the deadly Jan. 6 rioting at the U.S. Capitol, saying he riled the crowd to commit violent acts for "selfish" political reasons.
“Whatever they end up doing, or not doing, none of it will compare to one of the lowest points of American democracy that we lived through in January 2021," Boehner writes in a new book set to be published this month, excerpts of which were obtained by the New York Times.
The former Speaker also wrote that Trump “incited that bloody insurrection for nothing more than selfish reasons, perpetuated by the bullshit he’d been shoveling since he lost a fair election the previous November.”
Boehner said it was "painful" for him to watch what unfolded at the Capitol on Jan. 6 and the incident "should have been a wake-up call for a return to Republican sanity.”

Even us hill-jacks sitting out here in the woods can easy see the lawlessness, the corruption, the lying, the holier then thou behavior of those we entrusted to run our government..
If we continue to let them get away with pointing their fingers at us, telling us what violent people we are, what raciest we are, what horrible gun toting religious zealots we are.. How all the founders and folks we see as hero's were nothing more then slavers and murders. If we allow this to continue then soon WE TOO will become what they hate most.. And THAT'S when all hell breaks loose... :(

I tend to agree with the former speaker’s assessment. Trump has his day in court (which I supported), his legal team provided flimsy evidence (most not related to overwhelming fraud) and he lost, badly. He should never have kept going.
Of course, my comment is not popular on this discussion board as everyone here wants to believe the steal etc.
The GOP better come to understand that this is not a minor problem.
After this last election, where the GOP meekly acquiesced to the fraud without even a whimper of protest, there are millions of conservatives who voted GOP who either won’t vote again, will vote under protest, or will vote for a third party or write in.
Those numbers are, I believe, significant. Not 5% or 10%, both of which would be traumatic to any Republican candidate in a close race...but I think the numbers are more like 20-30%, which is a disaster.
They better get their minds right about this, but I believe they won’t. They will ignore it.
And that isn’t good for us, and it CERTAINLY isn’t good for this Republic.

And the creeping thought that he was in it with the Left from day one isn’t conspiratorial (although I do believe he has knowingly thrown in with them now) I believe at one point he was doing their bidding and simply wasn’t smart enough to realize it.
