I work in the solar business

I climb on roofs as a part of the job every day

I can tell you that the $84 billion company I work for has serious trainings and equipment to prevent falls from happening

Harnesses robes anchors lanyards You name it !

That being said I had no idea that many people a year get killed and falls

Anecdotally I hear about the homeowner falling off the roof now and then you get seriously hurt or killed

And then there’s the kids taking selfies on the water fall that plunge to their death

For deaths to Watts delivered, solar energy is by far the deadliest energy!
A lot worse than nukes or fossil fuels.

It would be interesting to see the demographics on the people who die as the result of a fall. I would venture to guess that it’s heavily weighted toward senior citizens. As a senior, I am aware that my balance and coordination are not what they used to be, therefore, I am extremely careful when on stairs, either up or down (cueing J. Biden here).
