Booster shots to prevent infections from coronavirus mutations will become the norm in the future, according to a top genome expert in the United Kingdom.
"We have to appreciate that we were always going to have to have booster doses; immunity to coronavirus doesn’t last forever," Sharon Peacock, the head of the COVID-19 Genomics UK, exclusively told Reuters. COG-UK, which was created by Peacock about a year ago in response to COVID-19 and is a consortium of public health and academic institutions, has sequenced some 349,205 genomes of the virus out of a global effort of about 778,000 genomes, the outlet reported.
Just like the annual flu shot, boosters for COVID-19 will likely be needed to combat coronavirvus variants that could occur in the future, said Peacock.
"We already are tweaking the vaccines to deal with what the virus is doing in terms of evolution — so there are variants arising that have a combination of increased transmissibility and an ability to partially evade our immune response," she added.

40% is fine. Over 106 million adults have already received at least one dose. There will most likely be over 60 million more adults vaccinated within the next 30 days.

Have you ever heard of a vaccine that is so safe you need to be coerced to take it, to fight a virus that's so deadly that you need to be tested to see if you have it?
This is where I got the 40% figure.
By mid-May, around 200 million or more American adults will have probably been vaccinated (currently, over 2 million per day). There are more than 70 million children under 18 in the population, who aren’t being vaccinated, yet. That would leave less than 20% of the adults un-vaccinated by mid-May, and with the way people are trying to get vaccinated so far, many more will likely be vaccinated after that.

You do understand that of Americans over age 65 (the first age group to whom the vaccine was made available) over 75% have already received at least the first vaccine dose. Younger age groups have had opportunity to try for vaccinations for a much shorter time period - if they’re even eligible yet in their state.
Meh, maybe but I still suspect that those who want it will have had it by mid May and maybe it gets to 60% but where I am suspect that would be absolute upper limit of adults

May be. A Walmart employee told me that about one-third of her coworkers haven’t been vaccinated, yet. A couple of them militantly refused (all middle aged women), and others are still deciding (younger and middle aged). It will be interesting.
You mentioned “coercion” earlier. Hopefully not. There’s no need for coercion. And we are experimental subjects, but we’re only 4th string experimental subjects. Many others have gone before, some about a year ago.

Who are the WE who get a flu shot every season? I know very few who take the shot, and I am 67. If I get sick, I get better or I die. The odds are in my favor that I am immune, and if not I will become immune and stronger. I believe the flu shot is between 35-60% effective depending on the year. No thank you.

Anyone who has a good science background and understands the overall virus situation.
Let me be clear on one thing. I believe that anyone who denies the science behind vaccinations and then suffers from an infection of those diseases should not get one dime of medical assistance from any government source in the treatment of that preventable situation.
Make your choice but be prepared to pay the consequences of you decisions.
That said. If you work with a lot of people in your job or travel a lot you are down right stupid not to be immunized against viruses like the flu and covid19.
In my first career, the ARMY, I had hundreds of immunizations. Every military unit is designated for rotational deployment, usually to specific areas overseas, and are required to maintain immunizations for that specific area.
I was part of a unit that was on call for world wide deployment so we had to stay immunized for all of the potential diseases in all of the area of the world. At least once a month either the medics would come to us or as a unit we would go to the medics for this months shots.
I have literally seen tens of thousands of fellow solders take thousands of vaccinations and have never seen a single one have an adverse reaction.
I am a firm believer in science so if you have any actual true and real studies conducted per the “scientific method” that indicate differently than please post the links.
If so called scientific data is not obtained via the “scientific method” then it is not science, it is bull shit.
