The rise in hospitalizations and deaths over the holidays, and the subsequent steep decline we've seen over the last several weeks, has little to nothing to do with masks and the like. The rises we saw during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday season likely would not have been as severe if we had allowed for more herd immunity to occur during the summer and early fall of 2020. In other words — and again, short of an effective vaccine — the increase in cases was always going to happen; it was just a matter of when.
Also, the recent declines in cases, hospitalizations, and deaths occurred too soon and too rapidly to be attributable to the vaccine. In other words, this decline was always going to happen; it was just a matter of when. Now, a year removed from the beginning of the panic porn, the data continue to reveal the truth on the Wuhan virus. This is especially true for masks.

Note that the cases per 100K in school systems where masks are optional are significantly lower than those systems where masks are mandated.

If there were zero mask mandates and zero mask usage across the U.S., it is very doubtful that our national health outcomes from the Wuhan virus would've been at all different.

It’s a Brilliant Plan.
NONE of it was about ‘public health’ concerns. It was all a VERY convenient (perhaps purpose-made) and timely sham to steal the election. PERIOD
They created an environment that killed a large segment of the elderly population by locking down nursing homes and then putting covid positive people in with them.
Then the media dutifully cried wolf.
And pseudo-scientists made up doom and gloom stories to back up the government plan to imprison the healthy.
It all sounds like a Vince Flynn novel.
Mask mandates reduce the risk of giant corporations being sued over COVID deaths - so they will be with us for a long time, whether they work or not. The airlines and their monopoly will be the hardest to crack. I can only suggest that - whenever possible - we give our business to companies that don’t require masks or social distancing.
When there is a major problem, the last thing the bureaucracy can do is admit it doesn’t have a solution. It proves the maxim “we have to do something even if it’s wrong!” And the government has mastered the art of getting it wrong. Enough propaganda can fix anything.
They wanted the numbers to rise closer to election time so they could blame Trump and cost him votes but still had to steal 10 million plus votes.
Then there are scientist-politicians (who have the credentials of a scientist and may well have been real working scientists worthy of note) who will tell any lie to advance their faction.
Not a new phenomenon. They were quite common in the last century.
I don’t blame the businesses. They are complying with the mandates from public officials. Those officials are the ones who deserve scorn for a “mandate” that is not very effective.
If I was a business owner I would do the same. Why risk lawsuits, fines, and scorn?
I do not believe masks work and like all things Covid, there are negatives that come with it, but blaming business owners who are already struggling is focusing on the wrong target.
Yep. I saw how fake it was from day one of the sudden lockdowns. Not even flu season get one half of one percent of this type of attention.
Every time I try to click on one of the links in the article (on American Thinker) it goes to some blogger dashboard, which is annoying as hell. I don’t want to set up a blog ffs, I just want to read his citations.
Um... I don’t see any references to actual science. The only references are to blog posts; I tried to click on one of those links, and it led to a blog website with information on how they run their site. However, there are no references to the medical literature.
There are plenty of studies at this point that show the effectiveness of masks, both in laboratory settings and in real world use. Yes, the masks do work; if we had not taken to using them, the pandemic would have reached its peak back around June, with around 4 million dead in the US alone to show for it.
The opinion this non-scientist opinion writer expressed that we would have been better off letting the pandemic spread uncontrolled until herd immunity kicks in is just plain wrong. No infectious disease, ever, has disappeared because herd immunity naturally kicks in. That is because there are always people who have never been exposed, who ensure that the disease can keep circulating. Herd immunity does not protect individuals; it is a phenomenon where enough people are immune that an infected person is more likely to encounter immune people than he is to spread the disease to another non-immune person. The only way we have ever reached herd immunity is through the use of vaccines. He even contradicted himself by trying to show with the graphs that masks did nothing, then claiming that we should have sat back and waited for the virus to spread. If the masks really don’t work, then why the suggestion to let the virus spread uncontrollably?
What the graphs show is that when we started widespread mask use and social distancing, the spread of the virus slowed. When the BLM riots started, the spread increased rapidly. During the holidays, when people typically gather to celebrate together, the spread increased, presumably because people feel more comfortable to remove their masks when they are with people they know and trust. Now that the holidays are over, the spread has slowed. I was concerned that lifting the mask mandates would lead to increased cases; however, business in Texas still require masking and social distancing, and the majority of people still wear masks.
The bottom line is that the pandemic virus takes advantage of human behaviors to spread, and we interfere with that spread by altering our behaviors.

I agree with your thought 100%. The government has to be seen as doing something. At least no one has suggested sacrificing a virgin, but at the rate paganism is getting more popular it might be coming.
I agree human sacrifice is the left’s primary agenda ....

Right now, they are talking about a ‘pass’ to prove vaccination status.
I mean, that reminds me of old WWII movies where people in occupied countries who were stopped and made to show their ‘papers’.
Right now, it feels like we are occupied...seriously!!
BTW-my doctor asked me if I got the vaccine and I said:
“No, and I won't. It hasn't been approved by the FDA. And, I understand is that it will take down my immune system... permanently. So, I'd be making myself into a petri dish for every bug there is.”
He said he agreed and didn't push for me to get the vaccine. At this point, even IF the FDA approves it, I'd still decline. I trust absolutlely NOTHING the US government recommends.
