I completely quit posting news for this kind of thing. I have no idea of the reasons things go bye bye in breaking news and even news sections. FR used to be a pretty decent news reader, but it doesn't serve that purpose anymore.
I think there should be forum news editors or something and they should be alerted by email of news items that members suggest to be newsworthy and then get it posted up if warranted. I would love to see the site be an effective news reader site again.
I agree that used to be able to pop in, look at Breaking News Sidebar, and find “BREAKING NEWS” for past 24 hours.
Capitol situation should be in Breaking News Sidebar.
