Rep. Matt Gaetz possesses text message screenshots, an email, and a typed document that purportedly support his claims that a federal investigation into his relationship with a 17-year-old is related to an extortion scheme against him.
On Tuesday, the New York Times reported that the Justice Department is investing whether Gaetz had a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old and paid her to travel with him. Gaetz has called the report "totally false." Gaetz told Axios that his lawyers told him that he "was not a target but a subject of an investigation regarding sexual conduct with women."
The Florida Republican countered the report on Twitter and in statements to Axios and Fox News with a claim that his family is being extorted for $25 million and that the people pushing stories about an investigation into his relationships with women are the people extorting him and the subjects of an FBI extortion investigation over the last few weeks.
The documents in Gaetz's possession detail an alleged scheme that revolves around attempts by former Air Force intelligence officer Bob Kent and Beggs & Lane attorney David McGee, a former federal prosecutor, to free ex-FBI agent-turned-private investigator Robert Levinson from imprisonment in Iran.

When you click on the link to the Orlando Sentinel story, you can search for his name and it will return dozens of stories on his problems from the last year or so. It's a dumpster fire of alleged corruption.

Hmmm...interesting take! My theory is that now the plot has come to light, they’re going to back off Matt and burn his father...similar to how they couldn’t get Trump so the took out Flynn! It worked...very well albeit for different reasons.
We’ll likely never know, but if there’s anyone likely to expose them, it’s Matt Gaetz. he’s way smarter! ot sure what they got on his Dad though. they will use him to either try to set Matt up or find something...anything...a la Mike Flynn

Gaetz already admitted he is being investigated. There is nothing to sue over.
In a case with this high of a profile, the DOJ/FBI would make sure that they have an airtight case before bringing charges. Gaetz just better hope he didn’t do anything on camera.

That would be a reason for DGs initials to be at top....HE sent it (a copy) to someone.

How any so-called conservative and on this website and jump right on the “Well something doesn’t add up with GAETZ” BS and side with the DOJ ‘Investigation” and the NYT’s sources credibility.
The NYT was running a cover operation for these extortionists. If they didn’t publish the story the extortionists were running into a trap. The real question is who dropped a dime on the NYT, someone from inside the FBI no doubt.

I was just astonished that the whole Trump/Russia thing got the traction it did but that was an obvious political hit. This is a whole ‘nuther kettle of fish.
