Can't really blame him, Congress is Kabuki Theater. Seriously, we have 50 GOP senators and what are they doing for our country, protecting our Southern border?

It may be incorrect but I read years ago that a Congressperson needs 3 terms to collect their full pension.

According to a source, Gaetz believes having a prominent spot in the media could help him gain momentum for a national political role in the future. Maybe it's just moi, but I believe that finishing the current term confers much, much more bona fides and authenticity than abandoning ship to be a show person.
Matt, you're better than a ship jump like this (and we need your vote).

Max will be missed in Congress, but I can see why he would make the switch. Max is a perfect fit for some talk show forum. His move will be similar to Joe Scarborough stepping from politics to becoming a media personality.
Both like to entertain. I don’t agree with most of what Scarborough has now become, but I can see he’s suited for that role. Max is young at age 37. He can always step back into political waters twenty years from now if he wants to.

Didn’t he co-sponsor a pretty terrible piece of legislation recently?

His district is in the Redneck Rivera. Safe. It just tells me these people are out for themselves. Chaffetz had to quit and leave his supporters hanging for a job in media? Scarboro quit in June, effective in September to spend time with the family as they all say. What happens in Sept? School. So much for the family.

5 years, then you can collect full pension after age 62.

That would be a mistake for Gaetz to do that right now.

How much longer will Newsmax be legal?
Also, didn't the founder of Newsmax go from being a fierce opponent of the Clintons, to real chummy with the Clintons?
To: 1Old Pro
Yeah, let someone else fill the chair and vote the same way he would, his communications skills can be better used in other venues.

his communications skills can be better used in other venues. Yep, he can better flog the RINOs from behind a mic than in Congress.

His move will be similar to Joe Scarborough stepping from politics to becoming a media personality.LOL. What are you a shill for Scarborough? He most certainly did not step from politics to become a media personality. He fled as fast as he could, because one of his interns died in his office in the shadow of Gary Condit and Chandra Levy.
He only became a media personality later, and the first had nothing to do with the second.
Pro tip: if you have to call yourself a firebrand, you ain’t.

Matt has been pretty solid, but there is something about him. He seems a little unstable, emotional and impulsive. He seems like a good follower, but I would not trust him as a leader. Something just isn't right with him, and quitting like this wouldn't really be out of character.
It may be incorrect but I read years ago that a Congressperson needs 3 terms to collect their full pension.
It's 5 years, and the amount is based on how many years they served. It's not just a "5 years and you get 100%" like many claim.
