WASHINGTON (AP) — When former President Donald Trump was asked to list those he considers the future leaders of the Republican Party, he quickly rattled off names including Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and Sens. Josh Hawley and Ted Cruz. Conspicuously absent from the list: Mike Pence.
The former vice president is steadily reentering public life as he eyes a potential run for the White House in 2024. He’s joining conservative organizations, writing op-eds, delivering speeches and launching an advocacy group that will focus on promoting the Trump administration’s accomplishments.

That and he released a statement on Jan 6 before the certification started that he “could not act unilaterally to overturn the election” and then went ahead an acted unilaterally to tell the states no on their request to return the electors and certify a possibly fraudulent election.
The same reason every President this Century has been picked and most of the last Century was chosen: "The alternative would be worse..."
Not only No, but HELL NO.
I believe some research into the logic underlying the VP’s responsibilities in the electoral college might be valuable at this time.
Thanks for your comments.
When someone is interviewed for a job, they present themselves in the best possible light to get the job. However, it is not uncommon for the facade to crumble once the person is in the job for awhile. This seems to be especially true in the political world. Trump looked for experienced Washington hands due to his own lack of DC experience. Some, such as Pompeo, turned out great. Too many others were snakes hidden in the DC swamp grass. Too many betrayed him although he hired them in good faith. At the time just about everyone on our side thought Sessions was a great pick for AG, for a prime example.
It’s March 2021. So early. It is a profoundly bad idea to rule Pence out already. Or Noem. Or Haley, Pompeo, Rubio, ...
Or for that matter even a Murkowski type for re-election to the Senate in 2022.
President Trump is talking up and generally rewarding those who have been loyal to him; and criticizing those who have not. He is calling out those who have erred, including McConnell. He is almost sure to endorse Murkowski’s primary opponent. All of this is smart. But he is not closing very many doors, including his relationship with McConnell, and neither should we.
The Trump wing of the GOP is dominant and should not be turning away anyone who might eventually be coopted. In the coming few years all those who are willing will be needed.
AP says? NFW.
Until I hear the King Maker, Trump, designate a successor nothing means a thing.
Alter Kaker? Who is that?
Oh, brother.
Guys like you deserve a Pence...and a Jeb, and a Paul Ryan, and a Mitch McConnel, and a Lindsey Graham, and all the rest of the derp state scum pretending they represent us.
And its guys like you that caused me to no longer be a 'conservative' of the stripe of those listed above.
I am now a patriot.

What party will Pence be running in? Won’t be the Republican primary. He’d last about as long as Jeb Bush.
And that after he had told Trump just the day before he would do the right thing.
Then he did the wrong thing.
The man is a snake.
That the AP is pushing Pence tells conservatives all they need to know about him.
Snowballs chance in Hell I’d vote for him.
He had the chance, that a Dem would have taken, to send the election back to state legislatures but weaseled out
Even if overturned by SC at a future date it would have shown his caring for R voters
NOPE! NADA!! The quisling is done!
I’m here for the comments.
They should be golden nuggets...
