Trump, My Dad and the Rightward Shift of Latino Men
The Washington Post ^ | MARCH 22, 2021 | Eric Garcia

Posted on 03/27/2021 3:11:41 PM PDT by MinorityRepublican

In 2016, my dad, Charlie Garcia — a third-generation Mexican American and lifelong Republican — supported Sen. Ted Cruz in the GOP presidential nomination contest. Recently, he recalled that, of the 17 candidates who ran for the Republican nomination in 2016, “Trump was my 17th.” Toward the end of the election, I remember him saying that he would “hold my nose and vote for Trump.”

But by this past November, something had changed. As far as I can tell, my dad voted while breathing through his nose as clearly as somebody could when wearing a face mask. Not only did he enthusiastically support Donald Trump, he gave money to the Republican National Committee. Though he has supported every GOP presidential candidate since 1980, he now contrasts them all unfavorably with Trump. “They can’t compare with what Trump has done,” he told me recently. “And some of the things that he came up with I said, ‘Oh man, why did you do that, Trump? That’s not going to go over well.’ And it turns out, my God, what a brilliant move! I had no idea. He’s just a master.”

A native of San Antonio, my dad spent much of his career working in sales; these days, he runs residential care facilities for the elderly in Orange County, Calif. His mother and father were born in the United States. My grandfather’s mother was likely born in France, but his father was Mexican while my grandmother’s parents were likely from Monterrey, Mexico. That mix of Mexican and American is why he calls me both “son” and its Spanish equivalent, “mijo.”

When I was growing up, we frequently watched Fox News (these days, like many conservatives, my dad prefers Newsmax); he regularly listens to conservative talk radio when he isn’t listening to classic-rock stations.

The GOPe is bought and paid for by big business, and big business loves slave labor wages for wetbacks. It spells huge profits and nobody is watching, or cares.

Just us conservatives, and we no longer have any voice.

I mean you can plainly see it from the raw data. Trump got a higher percentage of the vote in WI, MI, AZ, and PA in 2020 than he did in 2016. Not just more raw votes - a higher percentage of the overall vote. So those states were actually redder than in 2016, though he lost them all rather than winning them all. He gained support. But his opposition was not as divided. Biden was not hated like Hillary was, and Biden was almost entirely unopposed in his mass media campaigns promoting him as a forceful, strong, unifying leader with a clear vision for America. Many were noticing this and alarmed by the monopoly Biden had on the messaging for much of the country...we were called “concern trolls” and told to look at the size of the rally crowds...as though that negated the fact Biden was controlling the entire narrative of the campaign and being painted as something he clearly was not with zero competing message from the Trump campaign on most of these networks.

There was a great deal of “legalized” fraud from things done by the PA Supreme Court to change the rules as they were going along. That is one state I believe would have flipped but for the meddling by the PA Supreme Court and the Dems.

It should not have been close enough for the fraud to work.

It's not the votes that count, it's who counts the votes.

The media engaged in a 5 year no holds barred propaganda war against Trump, then the deep state and chicoms created a “crisis” never before seen in contemporary America. Couple that with big tech getting away with funding the left and censoring the right the election was preordained to be stolen. If Hunters laptop and “the Big Guy’s” corruption were mainstreamed the election would have had a different outcome.

Trump only lost White Males category and that was by 1%. He gained the most from Asians (+7) and Black males(+6). Now I know why Trump is called a racist by the MSM. They need to get MINORITIES back to the plantation...

Robles says. “I think a big reason why Trump did slightly better with not just Latino men, but other men of color, especially Black men, was because he had an economic message, and he had an economic message that he tailored to men of color.”

Trump's message was REAL jobs - not 'make work' crap from white liberal 'elites' who don't give a damn about the dignity of work and/or family...

Speaking of Bush League remember that Reagan was wary of taking Bush as vice president and think about what happened to Reagan a few months after the inauguration. Another memo from the deep state.

President Trump awakened America. He turned on the light switch and all the roaches went running in all directions.

You cannot unsee what you just saw.

I think many of the people who were skeptical of the New World Order are changing their minds. It does not seem so far fetched anymore.

I doubt it.

I suspect most are, if anything, cringing with fear.

They dare not allow their treason to be exposed.

There was a great deal of “legalized” fraud from things done by the PA Supreme Court to change the rules as they were going along. That is one state I believe would have flipped but for the meddling by the PA Supreme Court and the Dems.

The "legalized fraud" in Wisconsin only had the veneer of legality.

It was obviously illegal, with the excuse of Covid.

In Wisconsin, one "conservative judge" on the Supreme Court refused to uphold the law, with the excuse the election was over.

His name was Hagedorn, as I recall.

Wisconsin has clear laws to prevent voter fraud, ballot harvesting, and only allows mail in ballots in very special cases.

All of that was ignored to give the advantage and "win" to Biden.

Biden got 7% more of the white male vote...

I do not believe that at all.

Looking at this percentages, there’s no mathematical way Trump list the popular vote, let alone the electoral college.

"All figures have a margin of error" and then it doesn't say what that margin of error was. That's one possible answer. Also if this is an exit poll then it likely doesn't include mail-in voters and early voters. That's another possible error. And unsaid in all this is just because Trump appealed to this man's father doesn't mean that a Noem or a Pompeo or a Disantinis will.
