This was obviously a deliberate act and yet we hear nothing more about that act.
Makes me believe the US “intelligence agencies”/KGB were involved.
$9.5 BILLION a day in delays.
Are there helicopters that could offload cargo, thereby lowering the mass displaced? Could a temp crane be erected?
Another reminder of how delicately balanced our economy and standard of living is, but that fact will be ignored until it crumbles around us.
How long before the left figures out how to use this crisis against us?
They would helicopter in the equipment to do it.
It's just one boat.
Bet people would pay to see it blown to bits.
she is a perfect target for a saboteur to sink as she is.
Harness ten thousand camels to the stern and pull it free.
That thing is as long as the Empire State Building is tall. A sand storm they say??? Hope I don’t start smelling a rat in the near future
The speculation regarding a deliberate use of the Evergreen ship to block the Suez Canal is all very interesting. With all the difficulties, it is still a temporary situation. Perhaps this is just a technical “dry run”, run aground in this case, to determine if blocking the canal IS possible, and how long will it take to correct.
More evidence of deliberate sabotage would come with a similar or even more destructive action at the Panama Canal. Then what? High prices certainly, but American Navy ships would be blocked from transferring between oceans, temporarily cutting the US Fleet in half. Who might benefit from that, I’ll let you guess.
The last time the canal was blocked oil tankers had to go around Africa. They often purged their tanks on the return trip just off the Cape of Good Hope thus putting millions of gallons of oil sludge into the global circulation. It washed up on beaches everywhere. I saw it in Virginia and North Carolina. Stand by for episode 2.0. Ref: The Novel...”Super Ship”.

See the “Satellite image of the Ever Given grounded in the Suez Canal, the bow of the ship is said to be flooded.”
In the article: “A spokesman for the Ever Given, technical manager Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement (BSM), has said that a second attempt to re-float the ship was ‘delayed’ yesterday (25 March, 2021) and the focus was now on the suction dredger clearing material from [beneath] the bow.”

Saw it first hand in the sea of Marmara. Forty ton vessel out of Cypress. Circa 1979.
5.56mm
I read that a storm with about a 40kt crosswind blew it off course.
I did some figuring and came up with about 1 mil+ lbs wind pressure against the side of the ship + load on deck.
