The last time the canal was blocked oil tankers had to go around Africa. They often purged their tanks on the return trip just off the Cape of Good Hope thus putting millions of gallons of oil sludge into the global circulation. It washed up on beaches everywhere. I saw it in Virginia and North Carolina. Stand by for episode 2.0. Ref: The Novel...”Super Ship”.
You can bet the Suez Canal has long been considered a target as a military chokepoint /Captain Obvious
Economic chokepoint too - as is being demonstrated right now - even if by accident
Sounds like a scene from “The Blues Brothers.”
I saw a post on this issue earlier today.
If I recollect, it went something along the lines of most heavy duty choppers might be able to lift the smaller 1-unit sized containers. There are a few even heavier duty choppers (Military?) that *might* be able to handle the 2-unit sized containers. But, it would be arduous, as containers are strapped, lifted, one by one. All of this dependent on how heavy the content adds to the total weight. The napkin calculation was that it would take like 6 weeks, doing it 24 hours a day.
Ever Given hit bank at 12kn

See the “Satellite image of the Ever Given grounded in the Suez Canal, the bow of the ship is said to be flooded.”
In the article: “A spokesman for the Ever Given, technical manager Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement (BSM), has said that a second attempt to re-float the ship was ‘delayed’ yesterday (25 March, 2021) and the focus was now on the suction dredger clearing material from [beneath] the bow.”
Quite.
And obviously political:
Shipping container crisis could spark another toilet paper shortage
It’s not a talking point, it’s reality. Something Bloomberg is always challenged on. Anybody that thinks this was deliberate is even dumber than the idiots that made this accident. Stop moronic conspiracy nonsense.
I don’t think they’d pay $10 billion to see it. And that’s how much stuff is on there.
Not really. This isn’t have that drastic an effect. Sure the Suez is backed up. But there’s a BUNCH of other trade in the world that never gets anywhere near there.
And the captain drove the ship in circles prior to entering the canal in a recorded pattern that mimics a penis, testicles and butt cheeks. Nothing to see here, move along.
Panama Canal really isn’t that important anymore. Comparatively speaking the Suez is way more important because of the oil. Our navy hardly uses the canal. Partly because of how it’s organized. There’s the PAC fleet and the ATL fleet. And trying to get any major force through there would just be dumb, they’d be spread thin and highly vulnerable, way better to go around the horn in a proper well defended group.
Without evidence isn’t a catch phrase, it’s an accurate assessment. YOU HAVE NO EVIDENCE STOP SPREADING THE DUMB.
“This was obviously a deliberate act and yet we hear nothing more about that act.”
I think there’s a connection with the UFO disclosures and Q.

The difference between men and boys is the size of their toys.
Two U.S. Naval officers who drew a large penis in the sky with their aircraft reportedly thought the prank "would be so funny" before earning a formal rebuke for their actions, according to a newly revealed transcript from the investigation into the 2017 incident.
“I think there’s a connection with the UFO disclosures and QAnon.”
And, no doubt, 5G.

Saw it first hand in the sea of Marmara. Forty ton vessel out of Cypress. Circa 1979.

I read that a storm with about a 40kt crosswind blew it off course.
I did some figuring and came up with about 1 mil+ lbs wind pressure against the side of the ship + load on deck.
