23 Pennsylvania-run museums and historical sites, including the State Museum of Pennsylvania in Harrisburg, Landis Valley Village in Lancaster and the Ephrata Cloister, will all reopen on April 30, albeit with reduced hours and at a limited capacity.
According to a press release from the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission, operating schedules will likely vary by site. Updates will be provided via social media and the department’s website.
Face masks must be worn by visitors when at any of these sites and social distancing is required. Visitors will also be expected to wash or sanitize their hands before upon entrance. High-touch areas like doorknobs and railings will be disinfected frequently throughout the day.
Administrative offices, the State Archives and the State Historic Preservation Office, however, will remain closed, with staff continuing to work remotely.
No events or gatherings, including exhibit openings, special events or facility rentals will be scheduled at this time. School group visitations are expected to resume in the fall.
For a complete list of state-owned historic sites, check the PHMC list on their website.

One small step for the museum lover, one giant step for those sick of Lockdown.
Except for the Gettysburg Battlefield and Independence Hall, I didn’t know we had any others. Heh.
Will the fun rides and water slide at Devil’s Den be open?
Where I got engaged to the original Mrs C, almost a half century ago now.
A step in the right direction. Getting accurate elections would be a better step.
Read that as a bunch of lazy ass government employees receiving full pay, pensions and benefits for watching porn at home.
The entire state government needs to be dismantled. Get rid of the $30+ billion budget and let people keep their own hard earned money to live in peace and freedom. The Commonwealth adds zero to people's lives. They only take. Every single last slug working for government needs to be unemployed and face the realities of the real world.
Get real jobs that actually contribute to society. Build something. Make something. Yes, this is to shame lazy ass government employees, but I know they have no shame. Public service is an absolute joke. It is rationalization to take from the productive and make it difficult for productive and freedom loving people to provide for their families.
I’ve been thru Gettysburg 3x, all I remember there is boulders and rocks.
No doubt this date was decided on by the scientific evidence; April 29th would have been reckless and May 1st would be overdoing it.
This museum lover won’t we setting foot in one if they demand I be muzzled.
Wow. That was some Wolf whistle!
I refuse to attend any public facilities until the phony mask garbage is removed.
Did you forget the 1328 statues and memorials
Check out the Brandywine Battlefield from our revolutionary war.
Sorry, I was just being facetious. We have several dozens, of all kinds, here in PA.
No problem.
Devil’s Den is mostly boulders and rocks, with some signs/plaques and a statue or two, but no “fun rides and slides”. (Post #5)
I’m pretty sure that Dr. Evil will soon boost his mask use recommendations up from 2 to 3 ( or more ) masks.
I know. I’ve been there a few times.
I can ignore Dr. Evil with one mask as easily as three
