Democratic Sen. Tammy Duckworth vows to stall Biden nominees over lack of Asians

Illinois Democratic Sen. Tammy Duckworth said Tuesday that she will stall votes on President Biden’s nominees in protest of his lack of Asian American selections to cabinet-level jobs.

Duckworth has the power to single-handedly tank contentious nominees in the evenly divided Senate, though some of Biden’s nominees have passed with significant Republican support.

“There’s no AAPI representation in the cabinet. There’s not a single AAPI in a Cabinet position. That’s unacceptable,” Duckworth told reporters at the Capitol, using a term for Asian Americans a Pacific islanders.

“I’ve been talking to them for months. And they’ve still not addressed it, so I am not going to be voting for any nominee from the White House other than diversity nominees — probably a ‘no’ on every one until they figure this out.”

Duckworth, who was born in Thailand, said, “I told them that this morning. So, hopefully they figure it out. Because I’m a ‘no’ everything other than the diversity candidates.”

It’s been very widespread for awhile from people associated with the Left due to their policies.

Now that it can be shaped into a narrative to benefit they now claim to care...only in those instances where it can fit the narrative, of course, just like with any other group they claim to care about.

This obsession by the democRATS with diversity and inclusiveness, has probably led to many of the disastrous decisions and policy messes they make.

Does anybody else think they should be selecting the most "qualified" candidates for positions in government instead of adhering to some "woke" requirement that they fit in all the diverse boxes the democRATS have built around all races and genders?

As with other races and genders, hire the person who can do the job the best instead of filling some predetermined phony diversity standard.

The democRATS need to stop dividing the country into disparate groups and pitting them against each other. It is why the country is so divided all of the time.

Ahem. By "diversity nominees", Tammy Suckworthless means "non-white", so NEITHER pasty white Ashkenazi Jews with relatives in Israel, NOR populations of poor white slavic people like Siberians or Georgians from the old Soviet satellite states would count as "asians" in her mind.

Most Americans wouldn't consider any of those people to be "Asian", either. Yes, technically they come from what is geographically part of the continent of "Asia", but some white Russians from Novosibirsk (see photo above) calling themselves "asian" would be akin to someone who has lived in the Yucatan region of Mexico their entire life telling everyone they're an "American citizen", and justifying it by saying Mexico is part of the continent of North America.

It's no different than how "Semetic" means a group of middle eastern languages, which INCLUDES arabic, but whenever anyone uses the term "anti-semetic" now, they only use it in the context of meaning "anti-Jewish". Why they don't simply say "non-Jewish" is a mystery to me. It's silly to call Palestinians "anti-semetic" because you are basically saying they are bigoted against themselves, but hey, the same is true when they use to bash Tom Tancredo (an Italian-American) as an "anti-Latino" politician.

In any case, whenever the term "asian" is used in western culture, we always know it refers to the following types of ethnic groups: Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Mongolian, Vietnamese, Bangladeshi, east India, Pakistani, Sri Lankan, Burmese, Cambodian, Filipino, Hmong, Indonesian, Laotian, Malaysian, Singaporean, Thai, etc. Again, people of Isreali ancestry or white slavic eastern European cultures that technically reside in the continent of "Asia" don't make the list.

But in any case, Suckworthless vowing to be "No on everything" until she gets her way is music to my ears. Let's hope the b!tch really means it and isn't just posturing. I'd love to see her vote with the GOP to stop a bunch of worthless Biden hacks from being confirmed.

To put it more succinctly, natives of West Asia are not deemed to be Asian American (a term reserved for South Asians and East Asians, which are non-white ethnicities), because West Asians are white. That has always been the way that the Census does it. It would be silly to say that Israelis or Lebanese or Turks or Saudis or Iranians are “Asian” as such term is used in the U.S. Your analogy to someone from Yucatan calling himself an “American citizen” is quite apt; we use “America” to refer to the U.S., not “the Americas,” and, similarly, we use “Asian American” to refer to Americans of South Asian and East Asian descent.
