"While Krakatoa and Pompeii eruptions were more famous and deadlier, Pinatobu released the most volcanic ash and volume in recorded human history."

I believe the largest volume of material ejected in the past 1500 years or so was the eruption of Mt Tambora in 1815. It was estimated to be a VEI 7 eruption.

Per this list Pinataubo was a VEI 6 (yeah, I know, it's Wikipedia)

Fissure eruption, no big explosion, just a crack in the earth splitting open and gushing some lava, run away!

No big deal

“While Krakatoa and Pompeii eruptions were more famous and deadlier, Pinatobu released the most volcanic ash and volume in recorded human history.”

If this does release a lot of ash, it will affect climate around the world for several years, as the ash will have a cooling effect on the planet. But, thankfully, President Trump knew enough to prepare for this type of very predicable event and stayed out of the Kyoto Global Warming Treaty, because had the treaty been in force while this eruption took place, it’s very possible that we could drive the planet into a new ice age.

I believe the largest volume of material ejected in the past 1500 years or so was the eruption of Mt Tambora in 1815.

Key word is "recorded." There was very little records kept of that explosion. So, Pinatubo remains the G.O.A.T. in terms of volcanic ash volume vomited.

So far appears to be a Strombolian eruption.

... Mt Tambora in 1815

Changed history - 1816 had cold summer, starvation, etc. Affected migrations in US as well. New Englander’s began migrations to Midwest

In any event, there will be global cooling, and Bill Gates will propose doing something monstrous to our own atmosphere to get things warmed back up.

We got a good diet of Robert Service in the summer of ‘71. Lake LeBarge is still the clearest water that I’ve ever seen.

Business of tragedy: Lloyd’s insurers warn of volcanic apocalypse as investors back losses with ‘catastrophe bonds’

RT
2020-01-14 19:09:00

Lloyd’s of London, one of the world’s largest insurance markets, warned that volcanic eruptions could bury 15 major cities in lava and ash in the coming two centuries. As always though, there’s money to be made in catastrophe.

The Philippines’ Taal Volcano belched into life on Sunday, spewing a cloud of ash half a kilometer into the sky and shutting down Manila’s international airport less than 80km (50 miles) away. As lava shot out of the volcano and earthquakes rumbled nearby, scientists warned of an “imminent” eruption.

The Taal Volcano last erupted in 1977, but a previous eruption in 1911 killed more than 1,300 people. Residents of the area surrounding Taal Lake are therefore worried about the possibility of another disaster.

Such catastrophic eruptions will only become more common in the coming 100-200 years, Lloyd’s of London warned on Tuesday. According to the venerable insurer, around half of the world’s volcanoes in eruption are expected to have “reawakened” during this time, after lying dormant for generations.

Moreover, Lloyd’s added, “about one percent of the world’s population lives in 15 cities within range of an active volcano.”
Comment: Volcanoes, Earthquakes And The 3,600 Year Comet Cycle. We have also discovered that cometary events and volcanic eruptions leave very similar traces. In addition, they are not mutually exclusive, both can occur simultaneously for the simple reason that cometary events do indeed cause volcanic eruptions.

Despite this proven causation, mainstream science keeps downplaying the role of cometary events in favor of a systematic recourse to spontaneous (i.e., not induced by a comet) volcanic eruptions to explain most catastrophes. [...]

To summarize, the evidence suggests that a comet (or cometary swarm) interacted with Earth ca. 14,400 BP, 10,800 BP, 7,200 BP and 3,600 BP. That is to say, on a 3,600-year cycle, meaning that we are due a repeat performance around now. Indeed, the American Meteor Society’s records of observed fireballs worldwide over the past 13 years suggest that the ‘show’ might actually have already begun.. Similar events took place during the time preceding the EXODUS 1500 BC add to this 2021 AD we arrive at a total of 3521 years which is getting close to the 3600 year repetitive event, in other words we are well on our way for more to come.

Conclusion
The only thing I find wrong with the above is that their timeframe is off, as Judging by what is already taking place world wide we have already entered this cycle over a decade ago. Not that it matters one way or another what I believe or think; but I do believe that very similar events about 1500 BC to 1600 BC or about 3600 years ago, give or take, amongst many other things triggered the (TEN PLAGUES) as well as the explosion of Thera, located within the Archipelago of Santorini and at the same time rearranged the Mediterranean landscape permanently. Indirectly and in a roundabout way, turning days in to night for some time, and providing the final straw, scaring the Egyptian ruler at the time, most likely Thutmose III not only giving him an Excedrin headache but also convincing him that it would be a good idea to release the Israelites from bondage. This event entered the annals of history as the EXODUS.

Along here it may be of interest to note that the TEN PLAGUES were not events just made to order for good old Moses, as similar events occurring at the same time; of course of somewhat different nature bedeviled the ancient Chinese as well. What became evident by searching some of the ancient records within the same timeframe, what clearly points out that what was taking place at the time was not just localized, but affected the whole planet. The interesting part is that the Jews being pretty sharp by nature, especially one in particular, MOSES, utilized these events to threaten the Egyptian ruler with and by doing so eventually gained the release of all the Israelis from bondage.

Ya know, I’ve had my eye lids freeze shut running dogteam down the Yukon at minus 65. You bite mitten and with forefinger and thumb break the ice off eyelids so you can open them. Spent 21 years up near Eagle until retiring in Fairbanks. Was still minus 30 at night last week.

Correct on all that; I’ve read “The Year Without Summer:1816” a couple of times.

What was interesting is the eruption occured happened during the Dalton Minimum and the decade had already been been cold. The jet stream had the same ‘waviness’ as it did recently that permitted the deeply penetrating cold fronts that hit various parts of the Northern Hemisphere.

Apparently volcanic activity increases during solar minima and I just read that currently there are 45 erupting volcanoes during the current solar cycle decline. We might be heading into another Maunder or Dalton minimum.
